I am sure Mr. Udall, may he rest in peace, was a fine citizen, teacher, writer, family man, and public servant as his many biographies on the web make very clear. However, with around five members of his family currently in congress, a dynasty that would make the Kennedy’s proud, I find this type of legislation unnecessary, if not shameful. With all the issues facing the Nation and Congress this type of self-indulgence and aggrandizing on behalf of his family should be prohibited. Postpone this bill until the real important business of the Nation has been dealt with, resolved, and when we do not have to borrow money from foreign countries to mint Mr. Udall’s medal. Legislate and improve the lives for those of us who are still here first. Mr. Udall has all the time in the world to receive his medal.
