You don’t get it, do you? The government is lying to you to try to create a global tax that goes to the UN that only the US England and Australia have to pay. They Are trying to give 1% of every Americans income to a world government, the UN, and tried to do so using the ruse of global warming which has now been proven to be false. Now I suppose they will say that all things that they said caused global warming actually cause global cooling instead, and that they will still need the tax to fight global cooling.

This is a huge deal to environmentalist Global warming was their Jesus. Imagine what would happen to the Catholic church and all other christian churches if they found proof that Jesus never existed. Environmentalism has become one of the woulds largest religions and now they find out that their messiah never lived and that they were worshiping a false god. This is a huge deal, this is much bigger then when at 10 years old you found out santa clause wasn’t real. Millions of people identify themselves as Environmentalists or “green” how do you think it will effect them when they find out their messiah was just a folk story?

This not at all surprising and they will simply lay low for a while then choose another cause. As you get older you will start seeing the patterns, until the 70s the great environmental cause was man made global cooling (in addition to anti nuclear power) then that theory was proved wrong , the planet started warming up again. They laid low for a while then in the 80s their cause became the whole in the ozone that we supposedly made by using hairspray and aerosol deodorant. We had to start using the nasty role-on or stick deodorant and the pump hair spay bottles that were always getting plugged up and and would often spray stream of hair spray like a supper soaker instead of a mist (those were hard times) well the Ozone whole fixed its self and that theory turned out to be bunk. They laid low for a while and then in the 90’s chose global warming to be their cause. So just sit back and wait, they will lay low for a year or two them come up with another cause, it would be very funny but unlikely that they would go full circle and make their new fight against man made global cooling.

All they did was move the qualifying date from 3/09 to 12/09. There is no further or new extensions. It will just allow more people to qualify for the 2nd 13 week extension. There are now over 3 million workers poised to run out of their unemployment in April because their state qualified for this 2nd tier extension months ago like MI and CA. They are now making it even harder by passing nothing further and making this effective to the end of the year. I agree with your assessment of the job market and I too have been out of work for almost a year. They find billions for banks but nothing for people who have been caught up this recession from the beginning and sees the job market get worse daily for the past year. Here’s a stat to make you call your representatives. The 18 billion in Wall St. bonuses would have funded a third extension for 26 weeks. Double the 13 weeks they have given. Where are the priorities? Please call your Senators and ask why there is not a third extension in this bill for over 3 million workers set to lose their benefits. Where is the job training programs in this Bill? This is insulting to call this stimulus or recovery. It will not even take effect for 2 years. By that time it is going to be chaos and anarchy in the USA if they don’t spark job creation and stop the huge job loss that officially began 12/07 over a year ago now. And the news acts like there is a new extension but there is NOT. They just don’t bother checking the facts because they have a job. See the news clips in Florida? Over 70,000 people camped out for 35 firefighter jobs. Get used to it that is only the beginning of many such pictures across this country. This is no joke and DC knows it but won’t cross their corporate masters. It is what our founders would call taxation without representation.

The challenge facing the economy is caused by the large number of foreclosures. The large number of foreclosures in turn is depressing home values and the housing market, which in turn is the major negative impact to the economy. This is what needs to be fixed – FAST. Real estate and stock market losses total an average of $650 billion a month for the past year. This is the issue and where the resolution should be focused, not in massive deficit spending bills.

Yes Wall St. needs to take the loss on these mortgages but they won’t. This is all a dog and pony show to prop up home values that can no longer be sustained because of the decrease in wages and why people are also are in so much credit card debt. Many people used their credit cards to meet their monthly expenses trying to afford the overinflated value of their home. Wall St. preaches about free markets but then does everything to not have those free markets take their natural course. They never accounted for people having less money when they passed these free trade agreements. And they either need to have people make more money or decrease the values of these homes. It really is as simple as that. Spending by the Govt. would help but with nothing for homeowners in this Bill it will have little effect and next year we can look forward to massive inflation as there are less goods available because of the massive manufacturing layoffs. It’s going to get ugly and I’m tired of it because of these home values that were not realistic. The proof of that is this is not nation wide just in select areas especially in the west where home values have been off the charts for years and ultimately unsustainable.

the prices of houses were over inflated do to easy credit and low interest rates a reset has been inevitable scene 99 they just kept delaying it by manipulating currency and interest rates. Houses prices still have to all quite a bit, you figure the stock market lost close to half it value, home prices should fall by that much also probably more the stock market also has a it to go also.

Lots of things to blame but lots of it is because of stupid people that were willing to pay way more for things then they were worth.

Most people want to stick their heads in the sand and pretend they did NOTHING to contribute to this situation. Americans live on instant gratification. Charge now pay later. Whose fault was that????

  • Anonymous 02/03/2009 11:12am

    Where is the change?

Meanwhile, House Republican leaders put out a list of more than 30 “wasteful” provisions in the Senate version of the stimulus, including:

    • A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion pictures

    • $650 million for the digital television (DTV) converter box coupon program

    • $248 million for furniture at the new Department of Homeland Security headquarters

    • $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees

    • $1 billion for the 2010 Census

I like the GOP’s bill personally.

  • arkadyka 02/03/2009 1:30pm

Anyone know what the major difference betwee the senate and house versions of the bill are?

This is what happens when Washington doesn’t extend unemployment and when they ship all our jobs over seas and then have the audacity to call free and fair trade. They waste our money and let the banks throw parties as they throw people out of their home…

I have lost my benefits…. only 7 weeks. I am emailing my Vet to see if my Cat and bird can be placed. She (the cat) is young and cute and a calico and might be adopted. She would need patience from a new family as I have allowed her, her individuality to now.My bird will be fine even of I let him gooooooo. I dont see an end in the immedaite future and only have enough funds with my savings to cover until Mid April
There is no family, no Mom and Dad, no relatives, but a daughetr who is also struggling wth her Family of 5 in a 2 bed. home…also rented. but I do have excellent credit, I have thought of any/all resources I can tap into and find none.I can go into debt. and let the collectors reap what they have to/or let it land on the shpulers of my only Daughter-what kind of legacy is that?
All the shelters here are already full, and wouldnt take my dog anyways..And I’m not going without her with the medications that she needs. She has been with me when things were real goood and God would never forgive me, and even that doesnt mean anything, she’s my friend. if I passed her off to someone else with the requiements she needs. She is old and needs daily mediction, and without regular doses would go into coma.So Shes with me whatever. I have my car.
I thought about ending mine but I cant get passed what would happen to her.
Maybe thats why God gave her , her illness.Who knows.
I spoke to my priest tonight, but not fully.Because its a sin to take your life. And I am embarassed aand asheamed of my thoughts and intentions.
    Hold your Family close.
Sorry if I have brought to the surface things noone wants to thinkabout.

All this plan does is inflate the US economy…in a couple years it will land us in the same position we are in now and is the reason why we are in economic turmoil with thousands unemployed! READ THE FINE PRINT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

It doesn’t even do that. It inflates nothing except for special interests. Socialism you cry? I ask you when we ever had free government in this or the last century. The banks and more specifically the FED.

This Bill is just show as they ramp up to more trillions more into the banks and agin will place no rules making them lend this money. And you are correct we will land in the same position. But with this Bill we won’t even get out of thegate!

People will be screaming and taking to the streets by the summer if they don’t get a handle on this and put some meaningful restraints on these banks and their lending money we give them or they wouldn’t even have a job. Maybe nationalizing the banks would actually be cheaper and not plunge this country into ruin. But I think you overestimate and misread Obama’s intentions.

Read about his and Geitner’s school boy connections and how Obama’s mother was setting up banks in Indonesia and his grandmother was also a banker. And I forget which one knew Geitner’s mother. You were sold a bill of goods. There was never any change on the agenda. Just a change of the face of the corporation who runs this country, into the ground I might add.

You should look up about Obama’s mother being a banker overseas. That’s true. It’s strange only because it was so reported about food stamps and a tough childhood. It does make you wonder. Question your leaders no matter which side of the aisle. The last 8 years should have taught us all that.

Please get you facts straight before you go off on a nonsensical tangent. I don’t know what you are insinuating? Most of us don’t accomplish half the things this woman did in her short lifetime. Keep looking under rocks for something to pin on this woman. What the hell is wrong with you? I suppose you think Martin Luther King, Jr. was a terrorist too? Good Lord, what a bunch of maniacs. Maybe you should stay away from the bong pipe, it’s making you paranoid.

“Dunham was not estranged from either ex-husband, and encouraged her children to feel connected to their fathers. She returned to graduate school in Honolulu in 1974, while raising Barack and Maya. When Dunham returned to Indonesia for field work in 1977 with Maya, Barack chose not to go, preferring to finish high school in the United States.

Having been a weaver, Dunham was interested in village industries, therefore moved to Yogyakarta, the center of Javanese handicrafts. In 1992 she earned a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Hawaiʻi, under the supervision of Prof. Alice Dewey, with a dissertation titled Peasant blacksmithing in Indonesia: surviving and thriving against all odds.33 Dunham then pursued a career in rural development championing women’s work and microcredit for the world’s poor, with Indonesia’s oldest bank, the United States Agency for International Development, the Ford Foundation, Women’s World Banking, and as a consultant in Pakistan. She mingled with leaders from organizations supporting Indonesian human rights, women’s rights, and grass-roots development.

And there it is. Obama’s mother worked for Indonesia’s oldest bank. And given Obama’s schooling it doesn’t sound like the deprived childhood many were lead to believe he had. You don’t know how the ruling class works it all about family connections. And look now he has his good banking buddy Geitner at Treasury a chief architect of TARP. And now Jud Gregg at Commerce and another key legislator of TARP. Where is the change? Or is it different lies the same old song and dance? More theft for the banks? It beginning to look that way.
