To Whom It May Concern ,
I dont understand how our government can unjustly invade Iraq at the cost of thousands of innocent lives and millions of dollars per hour and now that same government can’t afford to provide Social Security and Medicare to our beloved senior citizens and our disabled.
I understand that the top 5% of our population doesnt need S.S. or Medicare because they are so well off, but Lord how can our government officials sleep at night when you are turning your backs on our senior citizens and disabled, who worked hard in younger years. The Lower and Middle Class who have paid into and counted on S.S. and Medicare are getting walked on by their own government officials.
Please stop listening to only the Exxon Mobils and Halliburtons of the U.S.and United Emirates and listen to us little people, who are the fabric of this great land.
God Bless this country and God Bless you.

what is the name of the committee this bill creates? Will we be able to track that with the OC committee tool?

Apparently you do not understand the gravity of this country going bankrupt. This short-sighted bill will have us doubling our national debt within 10 years. That will be over 10x the annual tax revenue. That amount is unsustainable.

Even if the S&P does not downgrade the US, the damage is already done. Countries are shifting their investments to alternatives. Solid reserves like gold are at record highs as inflation skyrockets.

So I guess we are now to live under a dictatorship under an excuse of a national debt that is a complete scam. So guess what people. Say good bye to the constitution. If you dont do what this supercongress says than they will do what they want. Congradulations people we have now officially given up our liberty. We should start coming up with a new name for this country because this sure isn’t America!!!

So, as a result, we get to increase our debt another couple of trillion dollars with nothing to show for it. We had enough revenue to prevent the nation from defaulting. By increasing the ceiling, all we do is make it harder to meet our obligations in the future. Nothing happens immediately to alleviate any of the revenue issues that still exist and the reduction of $3 billion in next years projected growth still means that the budget is projected to grow ~7%, instead of shrinking. This is an extremely bad and dangerous path.

By this point, hitting the deadline without a bill is about the worst thing that can be done. Congress had time to make a good bill, but they squandered it all being late on the budget for our next fiscal year. If this bill passes, we may lose our triple-A rating, and we may have a slightly harder time getting loans. If this bill doesn’t pass, we absolutely WILL lose our triple-A rating, I doubt pretty much ANYBODY would touch us with a ten-foot pole, and a substantial number of government workers, few if any of which had anything to do with this bill, will be furloughed. None of you seem to understand the gravity of the United States defaulting on its loans.

This is Idiotic! The bill only guarantees at least two increases in the debt ceiling, a reduction of only $3 billion in next year’s project budget growth and a promise of a vote on the balanced budget amendment. Everything else is “pie int the sky”. On top of that, we are faced wit another instance of having to approve a bill in order to see what’s truly in the bill.

This bill needs to be shot down in the Senate on Tuesday Aug. 2nd. Call or write your Senators and ask them to vote NO!!!

This is no compromise. It doesn’t address the real issue here, too much spending! This is just a drop in the bucket, not real cuts!!
