What if this were Your Child??? This is not Fiction and it could and will happen again and again.

This is a NO Brainer. Passing this law would not only prevent future needless deaths but have a domino effect. First, protect the consumer. Second, reduce greenhouse gasses by forcing these mass producing companies to go back to common sense and getting rid of the corn fed cows and livestock. Eating grass naturally removes the Ecoli that is a killer. This boils down to &quot;we are purposely poisoning ourselves for the mighty dollar&quot;. Third, not only going back to eating grass to rid disease but it would drop the &quot;greenhouse gasses&quot; because the waste would simply go back into the ground vs. tons of gasses being released in the atmosphere.

So, we improve food quality. Improve health (health care reform), reduce greenhouse gas (global warming). Wow what one bill could do!

Stand Up for what is Right. </content>

Reintroduce Kevin's Law, Simple. I mean you look at the people dieing, and I mean it's stupid, If you make people sick, take them out. If people did not get sick, less money on sick people, and I am sure people are tired of seeing loved ones die because of things like this. Why wouldn't this pass? It makes more sense then the factories hiding how they treat the animals, and raise them! </content>

I believe that what this comes down to is that all food operations should have a HACCP plan. A HACCP plan is the basis of a clean, safe, and sanitary operation. It's ridiculous that people are getting sick from things such as E Coli and Salmonella, when it could be so easily prevented by incorporating HACCP plans and more rigid food safety guidelines. </content>

I just wrote my (retiring) representative:

Representative Watson:

I just watched Food, Inc. and would like to urge your support for a bill about meat safety, called Kevin's law: H3160 (Kevin, a 3-year-old, died 12 days after eating a hamburger).

It is currently in committee, and has been stuck there for several years.

Please also watch Food, Inc., which takes away the curtain the food industry conglomerates have put between us and where our food comes from.

Thank you,
Katy

Our nation's citizens have a right to healthy foods. Today's mass production of industrial, genetically modified food is detrimental to our health, inhumane to our livestock, enslaves our nation's hardworking farmers and their laborers, and adds decay to our planet. And it does all this in the name of profit for the handful of titans that control the industry. Why does a cheeseburger off a &quot;dollar-menu&quot; cost me less than a head of broccoli? Pass Kevin's Law. Not only &quot;Food, Inc.&quot; was an eye opener but also &quot;Earthlings.&quot; How is the government going to actually care of the American people when it can't even control the food the factories are producing. The more unhealthy the food is the more unhealthy American's are going to be. Please re-introduce Kevin's Law.

As citizens of the United States we are covered by 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness'.

Contaminated food takes our lives and those of our children, the corporations that are preventing us knowing this fact anf force us to continue to eat from repeat offenders are denying our liberty, and being riddled with food borne pathogens is a serious impediment to any degree of happiness.

Please choose the American people over the greed of a handful of companies and the farmers who have no option but to submit to their tyranny because of massive debt and intimidation.

Surely it is common sense that a business that continually issues people with life threatening poison should be shut down? Surely we are allowed to eat food that has been stripped of contaminents, and surely the permitting of pathogens into the food simply because it makes it cheaper and it's too much effort to get them out is vile at best, evil at worst.

I agree 100% with brucemaclachlan. Our country has a history of letting large corporations slide and avoid any ramification of their careless actions simply all due to greed. We have made our mothers, fathers, and grandparents suffer injustice through the leniency that the government has given them for so long.

And now what? We think our judicial system is just. We think that our government is for the people. They are the ones we are told to turn to and they ask for our votes, and our support. Then why do they not care to pass such an important bill as this?? Our children's lives are in danger because of the food that is forced upon the Americans. It only takes a small amount of common sense to realize just how wrong the system is!

Please reintroduce this important, and potentially life saving bill. Get these giant corporations shut down for their repeated violations. </content>
