We are sitting on vast resources of oil and gas. Let's develop our own resources before we go off half-cocked with an economy destroying energy tax. I'm sick and tired of the radical-left envirowackos dictating our energy policy. Windmills and solar panels are pie in the sky at best. Want to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, drill here, drill now! </content>

As a Democrat I'll agree to this compromise with you if we don't have to pay for your wars or military spending... but you can't send your kids to our schools, use our healthcare system, or breath our cleaner air.

So the agreement is ya'll Republicans will pay for and get the benefits of the Iraq and Afghan wars, but you have to pay for your own education, healthcare, and oil industry subsidies.

Us Dems will pay for and benefit from education, healthcare, and the environment and not have to pay for the wars or the Pentagon... we'll chance it.

I wonder who will have the lower bottom line. Its me, everything you pay for publicly now you'd have to pay for privately otherwise... don't worry, you guys have those awesome wars. </content>

Congress just passed several pieces legislation granting the Scientific community Funds - how much more in how many different ways are the going to stick their hands in our pockets? No more spending! No more Taxes! Or Tax the damn Democrats for their own legislation - let them pay for it alone. One half of this country, at least, is in opposition! We will not be ignored! </content>

Ok guys, the government is not trying to take away your freedom... I don't know how effective the cap and trade system will be but something does have to be done. Now, as far as consumers having to pay more money, any costs will be minimal. The bill actually does include some stuff to protect you from that. Some revenue from the permit auctions would go to low/middle income households and also to households to help them make their homes more energy efficient. Having an energy efficient home actually saves money. Plus, help will be given to any worker who loses his/her job because of changes made.
Whatever you think about climate change, the rest of the modern world recognizes that clean energy and sustainable practices are the direction industry is taking. This bill is trying to ensure that we will remain an economic leader in the future. We already haven't been failing to compete in the auto industry for a long time. </content>

Wrong, we have less than three percent of the world supply of oil. Any effort to cash in on this would take near a decade to build and operate to a level making a difference. There is a decent amount of natural gas, however that market is prone to fluctuation and manipulation. </content>

My main concern is that the average american will be taxed and then forced to pay for the increases that hit the businesses. Do you really think Wal-Mart and Grocery stores aren't going to pass on the increased energy charges to the consumer???

Who pays the most? The taxpayer. </content>

Provides for trading, banking and borrowing, auctioning, selling, exchanging, transferring, holding, or retiring emission allowances. &quot;

&quot;Requires the Administrator to: (1) establish a strategic reserve account and place into that account specified amounts (ranging from 1% to 3%) of the emission allowances for each of calendar years 2012-2050; and (2) auction such strategic reserve allowances once each quarter of each of such years.&quot;

- Will this become the new global reserve currency? The dollar is a fiat currency, so they're thinking ... why not replace the old dollar with the NEW Carbon Credit? Both currencies are backed by nothing tangible, but smoke and mirrors. This bill states up front that it is building a New ECOnomy. You can't have a new economy without destroying the old one first!
