We need to really look at the 5% of the population who have almost 50% of all the money and ask ourselves if this disparity should really exist and if it threatens our freedom to govern fairly. A blind man could see that from the president on down all of the politicians are on the payroll of this 5%. Think about it. How many times have we all said no and the congress goes ahead and does it anyway. Displaced people have been persecuted to carry the economic burdens of this catastrophe and forced to stare at life with no income or hope, while Wall Street is laughing all the way to the bank. It&#8217;s never about the populace, rather political self preservation at the expense of the people! Somehow, we have to get rid of all the ramped corruption. Forget politics, it&#8217;s cognitively dishonest thieves on all fronts, at any cost who bailout self serving wealthy people and corporations while they could care less about the middle class who need unemployment benefits to survive. </content>

For a simpler approach to that filibuster issue, check out Rep. Alan Grayson's web petition to get rid of it.

http://stopsenatestalling.com/

Grayson is my favorite radically progressive Congressman from Florida's 8th district in the Orlando area. He's a brilliant Harvard law grad with a take-no-prisoners attitude, a hero to the left and a nightmare to the right, or perhaps the anti-Christ to the right, not sure which.

Anyway, if he keeps his new House seat next year it will definitely be a sign of which direction Florida may be moving politically. </content>

A couple things should be noted. 1) The republicans do not oppose everything, they BOTH oppose each other. Just depends on the mix of who controls what, and who is in the white house. It has always worked that way, and will likely always will. 2) The rules regarding filibuster are good rules, and it should not be changed. I am waiting for the renewal of the program too. I run out the 3rd week of January, but I'm not in agreement to changing the fundamental way our government works so that it is easier for me. There is a system in place now, 60 votes. If you have that much support then it gets to a vote without a filibuster. As for using the tarp money... Obama ran on how evil the iraq surge was, then did his own surge. Its politics, they will always seem to be working against each other. </content>

Not sure if this was posted; NELP: Congress is on Track to Extend EUC Program, Call Your Congress member now! (December 14, 2009)

http://unemployedworkers.org/sites/unemployedworkers/index.php/content/blog

Does anybody know what we do now? Wait and see what happens with HR 3326 and the plan to attach the extension of these programs onto the Department of Defense bill to extend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program, full funding of the Extended Benefits (EB) program and the extra $25 per week in benefits? Not much action on S.2831 - Helping Unemployed Workers Act or H.R.4183 - Helping Unemployed Workers Act? Thanks for your thoughts.

I really think &quot;all&quot; in congress are idiots.

The democrats should realize by now the republicans will refuse whatever they decide.

So if the democrats wanted to use the tarp funds..they should of just faked it and say increase employer UI taxes just a tiny bit more..the republicans whould say no way..do what we want use the Tarp funds..SO SIMPLE EVEN A CAVE CONGRESS CAN DO IT! </content>
