Hey That - snow related my &quot;...&quot; They are grasping at straws to come up with anything now that they can use to deflect the continued massive unemployment increases on. We have reached the point where going from horrible to terrible is supposed to be good news. When did our county get so my lying sacks of &quot;....&quot;, even NPR is joining in on the sunshine pounding exercise now. Some days I get so mad at all the BS I could just spit! </content>

Anyone that really is a 99er knows who fought against every extension since the beginning. Though the Democrats leave much to be desired these days, the Republicans were the ones that tied to stop EVERY extension, from the very beginning of this.

There is now a bill, that includes all states at 7.5% or above, though the early reports were that it would be 10% or above.

If they wanted support from states like mine, CT, they had to lower the requirement. Now they have it.

The facts are that the unemployed in almost every state are in big trouble now, as they were earlier. </content>

Tired of people that say Democrats have done nothing for the unemployed and your voting they are voting for Republicans as a result? I severely disagree. Obama has talked about extending unemployment benefits several times, with the fed, at the United nations, at the G8, in news conferences, with the speaker of the house Nancy, with the Senate leader. All he can do is push them and talk, he does not have a Congressional vote anymore and he cant force them! What channel are you watching that you can miss this? You can see archives on youtube, or C-SPAN.

Democrat&#8217;s have voted yes on SEVERAL unemployment bills. Republicans have blocked all of them! Only two republicans approved the last one which was just enough to help the Democrats overcome the 94% of the other Republicans.

What have Republicans done for unemployed? ANSWER: Slandered them, dogged them, voted against them, brain washed their followers to fight against them, and be callous.

Republicans are approving bills for big businesses that are NOT paid for, but when it comes to veterans, or survivors of 911 ground zero, or unemployed then they say it must be paid for. Even though these are small amounts compared to the rich.

AND NOW THEIRS REPUBLICAN SENATOR GEORG LEMIUEX HE TOOK A FALL JUST TO APEEZE HIS FOLLOW REPUB LEADERS!.....they act as though it is a serority instead of a country! </content>

No, that is not our fundamental difference. Private sector obviously has to become the driving force for any free market economy, but when that driving force is stalled, it's the role of government to do everything possible, not only to try to stimulate the economy in any way it can, but to take care of its citizens who have suffered losses through no fault of their own and as a result of other groups of citizens who were completely reckless with everybody else's money, the situation we have here now.

Our fundamental difference (probably one of several) is that I do not ignore the fact that the gradual erosion of the middle class and the extreme shift of income to a very small segment of our society has multiplied the power and influence of that small group out of all proportion to what is fair and even healthy for a country and for a society.

But you are missing the point TL3390, It is for individual taxes, not corporate taxes and the Republicans gave it a limited shelf life, not a permanent one, knowing they would need that money again in the future. Unless that tax payer is out there hiring each person individually( and the employees' wages impact their own) I don't think it changes much on that playing field. There are &quot;corporate taxes&quot; that you should worry about when it comes to hiring and growing businesses, not individual taxes. And the small businesses that you are worried about in this instance have had their business taxes CUT during this presidency, keeping more money in their pocket.

Don't forget, we already did this for a decade and look where it got us with the national debt plus declining wages and declining employment!

I for one OBJECT to this second massive handout to those who don't need it and will not use it for creating American jobs --to be added to debt of the nation, which will affect ALL of us, including those children of our children who are always coming up in these twisted arguments about the deficit. </content>

But I thought at least SOME people had found jobs from these boards, maybe a bit of hopeful mythology there. I think most of us are either on the brink, or like myself, just barely getting by on a tiny fraction of former income, coupled with lost credit and savings, and some in school like I am also. A few have started little businesses, too. Do you remember rmiranda from these forums? Haven't heard recently, but she started a specialty candy-making biz out of her home and it seemed to get off to a good start. </content>
