The purpose of the ammendment to title XVIII of the Social Security Act is to require drug manufacturers to provide drug rebates for drugs dispensed to low-income individuals under the Medicare Rx drug benefit program. It is a cost to the drug manufacturers - NOT those on Medicare which the mailing implies - the mailing is to oppose the legislation [protect the bottom line of drug manufacturers]. The spin being used is "Keep the government's hands off my Medicare drug benefits!" which should in honesty be "Keep drug manufacturing profits at the all-time highs and let low income people [which includes many of those targeted by the false mailing] keep treading water or drown. A most dispicable mailings ever !
