This is socialism, LaChelvi.  Socialism lies to you until communism takes over. Then only the Gores and Gorbachevs will be sending descendants to higher education while our descendants eat lentils and rice.

If the those in the lower economic strata have to give up some of their government funded benefits (education, social security and medicare) then those in the upper economic strata also ought to give up some of their government funded benefits (tax breaks). As a solidly middle class person I think even I can manage, painful though it may be, to see my taxes increase slightly and my services decrease slightly. A real solution to the deficit requires real compromise on both sides.    </content>
