Sen. Clinton must remain focused on her work as a NY Senator. We now know what Obama means by "Change" - flip flopping on campaign financing. A commitment means nothing to Obama when he needs something else. So much for Change! Senator Clinton must get her goals through by working in the Senate, no matter who gets in in the white house. </content>

Senator Clinton:
Please take up the fight for an unemployment insurance extension. I am a NY constituent who has exhausted my benefits. Please don't allow this to get bogged down or die in the Senate. Thousands of Americans are in need.
Thank you.    </content>

I have been out of work since November 2007. My unemployment benefits have run out. My money has run out. I unable to obtain employment and need more time to continue my search for employment. I am at risk of losing my car. Gas prices continue to rise daily. I am highly skilled in my field. My State Rhode Island is one of the hardest hit with unemployment. I am 53 old and have worked hard all my life. I've paid taxes all my life, and this is how my country is treating me. Unbelievable. The Senate, House and President continue to play games as peoples life's are put in jeopardy. Totally disgusting. So all the extra time that I am not spending on looking for employment, I will dedicate to making sure any politician that votes nay on not extending unemployment insurance will be out of a job their next term by informing the public of their decision in every forum available. I will encourage others to do so as well. It is time in this country for the people to take control of their government again and take it out of the hands of the uninformed, out of touch, uncompassionate, ignorant, greedy, self absorbed fools that are the true terrorists ruining this country. Pass a fxxkxxg bill extending unemployment benefits or you will be out of a fxxkxxg job!!!!!!!!! Try to remember you work for all the PEOPLE of this country! And all those PEOPLE will remember how you vote on this issue. </content>

    <content type="html">
These are comments by Senator Edward Kennedy on Senate Bill 2544 cosponsored by Hillary Clinton. NOTHING has been done on this since January. WHY? It's an EMERGENCY bill!!!

Sen. Edward Kennedy [D-MA]: [Introducing S. 2544] Mr. President, it is clear that our economy is going from bad to worse. Every day the headlines bring more bad news. Fuel prices are going through the roof. Millions of families are at risk of losing their homes. Bankruptcies have risen by 40 percent in the last year alone.

Most alarming, we are seeing a drastic rise in the number of Americans out of work. In December, half a million more Americans were unemployed than the month before. Today nearly 8 million Americans are looking for a job and can't find one. The national unemployment rate has shot up to 5 percent--the biggest increase since the last recession. Experts say this number will rise well above 6 percent in 2009. Vulnerable parts of our population have been hit even harder--last month, 9 percent of African-American workers were unemployed, up sharply from 8.4 percent in November. Latino workers now have an unemployment rate of 6 percent.

What's more, we are seeing a large number of out-of-work Americans who still can't find a new job months later. Nearly one out of five Americans who is looking for work has been out of a job for over 6 months--compared with roughly one out of ten in 2001, before the last recession. With only 4 million job openings and nearly 8 million unemployed Americans, there are two workers for every job. As unemployment rises, there will be even more workers competing for each job. As highlighted in yesterday's front-page article in the Washington Post, this problem is affecting workers across our economy--even those with college educations and years of experience can't find work.

These aren't just statistics. These numbers are coworkers, our relatives, our neighbors. For each and every one of those families, a pink slip can spell economic disaster.

Losing a job isn't just losing a paycheck--it can mean losing the results of years of hard work and sacrifice.

For too many families, losing a job means losing health insurance. Without insurance, an unexpected hospital stay--from a broken leg or a cancer diagnosis--means certain financial disaster. Mr. President, 77 percent of middle class Americans do not have enough assets to pay essential expenses for 3 months. Without a paycheck, the rising price of daily necessities--housing, gasoline, and even groceries--becomes impossible to afford.

Our unemployment insurance program is intended to help workers weather a job loss. Workers pay into the program throughout their careers. If they lose their jobs, they can collect a benefit while they look for work. The amounts are modest--typically less than half of a worker's regular wages--but they help families to pay their rent, keep the house warm, and put food on the table.

In good economic times, such benefits are enough to tide workers and their families over for the few weeks it takes to find a job. But these are not good times. It is taking longer and longer for unemployed Americans to find new work. Over 1.3 million Americans have been looking for a job for 6 months or more. As a result, an increasing number of workers have not found a new job by the time their unemployment benefits run out. Over the past year, over 2.6 million Americans--or 35 percent of all unemployed workers--have exhausted their unemployment benefits. Unless we respond soon, these and other families will be left in the cold.

So we must act, and we must act now, to help these workers before financial disaster strikes. That is why I am introducing legislation today to give workers the help they need and have earned. The Emergency Unemployment Compensation Extension Act will ensure that Americans who keep looking for work but can't find a job after 6 months will be eligible for up to 20 weeks of additional benefits. In very high-unemployment States, workers could also receive up to 13 more weeks of benefits. Because out-of-work families are facing skyrocketing costs of gas, home heating, food, and housing, long-term unemployed workers will temporarily receive $50 extra each week to help pay their bills.

Providing this extension is a matter of fairness. We owe it to all workers who have lost their jobs in this struggling economy to provide help while they look for new jobs. Out-of-work Americans have worked hard all their lives. They have paid into the unemployment insurance system with the promise they would receive its protection when our economy is in crisis. Part of the American Dream is the opportunity to work hard, provide for your family, put your children through school, and save for retirement. When the economy isn't working the way it should and the jobs simply aren't there, we must stick together. We must take care of those who can't find a job.

But there's another major reason to act. Economists agree that extending unemployment benefits is a powerful, cost-effective way to deliver a boost to the economy. The extension of benefits puts money into the hands of those who need assistance the most and are most likely to spend it immediately on basic essentials. This means money is flowing immediately to local businesses, which will in turn provide a further economic boost.

Indeed, according to a report by Mark Zandi of Moody's, each dollar invested in benefits to out-of-work Americans leads to a $1.73 increase in growth--the most of any measure tested. That compares with only pennies on the dollar for cuts in income tax rates or cuts in taxes on investments.

The Congressional Budget Office agrees. Its report last week on short-term economic stimulus found that extending unemployment benefits is among the most cost-effective, potent, temporary steps that Congress can take to jump-start our economy.

This is a tried and true approach to helping working families in economic downturns. In each recession since the late 1950s, Congress has extended unemployment benefits to those who have exhausted their benefits and can't find work. It has often done so by overwhelming, bipartisan votes. Layoffs don't discriminate by party.

Extending unemployment benefits is the right thing to do for the economy and the fair thing to do for workers. I urge my colleagues to join me in helping out-of-work Americans and putting our economy back on track.

PLEASE PASS THIS AS A TRIBUTE TO SENATOR KENNEDY and HIS WORK FOR AMERICAN WORKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HELP US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Fellow Americans:
&gt;NOTE:&lt; IF you agree with this effort, forward this email. BUT if you do NOT agree, just smile and delete.

This is NO attempt to influence your vote and NO.... I have NOT been approached or solicited or asked or paid or anything....to "launch this letter". I am reminded that when Americans fail to speak out against what they perceive as bad politics and bad policies, we ALL loose.

I have always been a taxpaying and voting citizen. My first vote was for John F. Kennedy. I have felt great disdain for African Americans who vigorously support the Republican Party. When the Clinton's were being attacked by Ken Star and were subjected to the dirty tactics of a smear campaign by the Republican Party, even 'tho personal misbehavior invited that, I wrote letters of support to the Clinton's and, on their behalf, to numerous politicians and to church leaders across this nation.

In my opinion, this 2008 Presidential political contest is NOT so much about race or/and gender, as it is about POWER. But it MUST also be won ethically and fairly. As it appears to me, BOTH the Clinton's are making a strong case to validate the belief that the abused, once gaining power, may become the abuser.

Speaking for myself only, I am grateful that when there was a call for the bus boycott in Montgomery, AL, that NOT one African American Minister called for support of continued segregated busses. Every "chance" to support a candidate is NOT the same thing as an opportunity to promote the GOOD of the people. To express my concern about their actions, I have personally contacted certain community leaders via web addresses, who have been motivated to step forward with unnecessary and untimely "ENDORSEMENTS" or/and divisive debasing comments.OH! What would Adam Clayton Powell think now?

~~~ PLEASE help God BLESS America~~~  It IS our responsibility to step IN here. The media, while we NEED them for information, IS also fanning the flames of a fire that has the potential to become big and dangerous. I hope to have as many people as possible call the Clinton Headquarters; numbers listed below. I have called.Tell them:
1. Tell any one who answers the phone that you want to see an end to the negative campaigning
2. That you are a private citizen who does NOT like the personal attacks and distortion of the record
3. That you WILL withdraw support and WILL campaign against ANY candidate who initiates and maliciously  perpetrates "personal" and cheap attacks
4. That we Americans want POSITIVE campaigning on THE ISSUES from a leader who seeks to unify, NOT just win  .............OR....... say whatever YOU choose, but DO call to say something that may help foster a more civil campaign
Thanks, Janet
If Sen. Clinton (Hillary) wishes to win this election, she needs to adopt a more resilient demeanor. What is that? She needs not to horse laugh in Obamas face, but take a more worldly response. Maybe more Churchillian. It looks like she's dropped the more annoying nod. That's such a Mary Kay technique. Nod nod nod. Do you like it? Nod nod nod.
This is not a cosmetic sale, it's a change of government sale. If you clench, Hill, you'll lose it. Put a leash on Bill. He didn't help himself, how can he help you? He's also brilliant, but misguided and can't control himself. No good judgment. Okay. Smile, Hill, but stop clenching your teeth in the process. You must be exhausted, but you know what? You took this on. Meditate, breathe and for the goddesses' sake, get some relaxation into your responses. You look great. Breathe and let the small stuff go by. You are so much smarter than taking the early readings seriously. Obama is a new entity. Anyone can say, "Let's have change!" What the heck is that? Change? What is Obama's platform? He doesn't speak it. It's just a sermon for change. I don't want a president who is all about ego and no issues. Chanting for "change" does not do it for me. Wonder what was in it for Caroline to back Obama. He's not experienced and his charisma isn't that impressive. Musta been something.
Let's get serious. This country has been nearly decimated by this administration. Change is not the issue. What issues are important are balance of trade, health care for all persons, fair pricing for oil (the oil companies made huge profits on the backs of this county's middle class in the shortest time ever). Who is responsible for that? Who is asking questions? No one. The middle class is being destroyed by this administration. When the Clinton administration left office, there was a balanced budget and a surplus. We now have one of the biggest deficits ever. And for the first time in the country's history, we have made a pre-emptive strike on another country. This is a sick situation. And dangerous. The past secretary of state Madeline Albright has a new book out. It's a warning to a newly elected president. I urge everyone to read it. I heard her speak about it, and I'm rushing out to read it. People can fix this. It's supposed to be a democracy. If you think McCain can help  this, he's nothing more than an old Bush, and he'll wilt under pressure. Look how W. has aged int he past few months. Do the right thing, people. Read about the issues and vote what you know about, not on emotions. Obama is about emotions, in my opionion. Hillary Clinton is an intellectual with state of union experience. Which would you rather have? Please, Hillary, relax into your intellect and let that be your guide. Not your emotions.      </content>
People can fix this. It's supposed to be a democracy. If you think McCain can help  this, he's nothing more than an old Bush, and he'll wilt under pressure. Look how W. has aged int he past few months. Do the right thing, people. Read about the issues and vote what you know about, not on emotions. Obama is about emotions, in my opionion. Hillary Clinton is an intellectual with state of union experience. Which would you rather have? Please, Hillary, relax into your intellect and let that be your guide. Not your emotions.      </content>
Hillary has my vote. She has a mind of her own and she uses it --- for the good of the American people. I watched the televised live townhall meeting last evening and she answered the questions I care about (health care, immigration, Iraq, economy and security) with real definition and assurance. Women of America, we are on the eve of the 100th anniversary of women being able to vote and it is time for a woman president: Hillary Clinton !!!    </content>
No, not from those she SAYS she cares about but from Finance/Insur/RealEst $18,573,648, Lawyers &amp; Lobbyists; $14,452,417, Other; $11,324,613.     </content>
The same is true for Obama and McCain, I don't think this is a good indication of her character or stance on issues but rather on the current sitiuation of the nation.  With the real estate market in turmoil you can bet that those with vested interest are giving money to anyone that might be become the next president.    </content>
I usually never post on boards about anything.  In particular politics like religion is a rough topic to talk about these days.  Also I feel people have their own views and opinions about their political party or a candidate they favor. But, I'm still open to hearing from all candidates running in this 2008 election. I'm also reaching everything I can as a voter about their experience domestic and abroad. But, in particular looking at what bills as Senators they have lobby for and were against. What successes they have in their states and for the country (it's all available for all of us as voters to do our research on the net).  Because the voters got the message Obama, Hillary, and McCain your all for Change!  I'm so sick of hearing that espeically from Obama who never brings up where's all the money coming from for all these changes? Someone needs to remind all of them our country is in severe debt and economic woes(hardship when you own a car and can't use it, because gas is so dame high). Or plan errands, appts, shopping all in one days time so as to not waste a drop of precious fuel. Because of political rubbing of backs and big creedy oil companies wanting their profits. Also I want to know who will be Hillary, Obama's, and McCain's Vice-Presidental running mates. This is truly something that should be decided or talked about when voting for a President. Who would be second in command? Scary thought huh? I have listen to mostly Obama and Hillary on all channels for weeks.  I have read websites on them. Read about bills they endorsed and bills they voted on or against. I have compared many things side by side. Although change can certainly be great for all country's. In this case so far Hillary has my vote because one very important factor is still haunting our whole country. That being the costly war. I believe she has more experience overseas with diplomats. I believe this women has patience, strength to with stand any critism dealt to her by press or foreign world leaders (after all look what she went through with standing by her man).Whether right or wrong, she lived through that ordeal. Admit it women, any of us would have probably booted the guy out the door, or at least got even with him through taking him to the cleaners. She took the high road and gave her man another opportunity, reasoned it out in her favor and that was cleavor for her political future (she's smart).  Also under the Clinton administration my husband didn't lose a job twice like he did under the Bush administration (Republicans usually bring us bad luck). Bush has destroyed our livilyhood and this country for years to come (by the way no one cared then either when I begged people in polling lines DON'T VOTE FOR BUSH). I read about his policies too. Also under the Clinton Era I don't remember a poor economy and if given more time they we're doing wonders with Universal Health Care for all to have priviledge to.  It was Bush who took all funding for many important issue's this country has always had and spent billions of our dollars overseas for years on enemies that we still haven't found (in them there Afganistan Hills).  I want to know why the worry of the oil? Why the wars, was it about the territory that has the most oil? What isn't the government telling us about the condition of our own fuel sources? About the condition of the Alaskan pipelinesand others? Candidates sure seem to be talking a lot about alternative energy sources these days, I wonder why so heavily? Is America in crisis for not having enough oil? Is our Government purposedly allowing prices for oil to be this high so we all won't use excess and conserve what we do have?  Finally for any change money has to be available? After Bush can our Government afford to give anymore overseas OBAMA.  I wish I had wrote down the figure tonight but I read on his website that he wants to set a program up once we with draw from Irag for humanitian ad to continue.  Excuse me I believe it was like 2 billion dollars again. As a tax payer we have been told by this Government under Bush that we were going into these wars and giving money to Iraq for years whether Americans took a vote on this or not.  Yet, this is still a country that can't get past their hate and religious differences to ever agree on anything. I don't want that kind of money spent overseas anymore.  If we're pulling out we're pulling out for good. Let's build our own Economy back up.  Let them all fight their battles and kill each other over in Irag if need be.  All through time there have been wars with winners and losers.  Let's use our own money now for protecting this economy, this countries borders, and of course watch Iraq, Iran, N. Korea, and China, like a hawk.    </content>
Those who vote for unconstitutional warrentless wiretaps and vote to protect the criminals that violate our privacy are not worthy of the position they hold. It's impossible to justify undermining the very essence of our constitution in order to protect it. Chicken SH*T. You want to be president but cannot take a stand for the Constitution?    </content>
