It is an irresponsible answer to an urgent problem. We need stablility, and we need to stem the foreclosure wave in this country, but S 2636 will destroy the markets and plunge us deeper into housing crisis. HUD is considering having lenders & banks order appraisals. If this happens, the overvaluation problem may self correct. Perhaps what we need are interim steps to allow lenders & banks to accept partial payments with out changing the loan terms.
