User comments on OpenCongress are designed to allow real-world people to contribute their knowledge, insight, and expertise to legislation in Congress. OpenCongress comment boards are an open public forum for community discussion. Any information posted here will be viewable by all visitors. For personal correspondence with Congress, please contact your Senators and your Representative directly.
These comment boards are designed to "filter up" the comments rated "most helpful" by users. Every OpenCongress user has the ability to set his or her personal ratings filter higher, to view only the comments rated most-helpful, or lower, to view every comment on a page. Also, every user earns a site-wide rating for all the comments he or she submits, which can be viewed on his or her personal profile page. This serves as an incentive for individuals with Congressional expertise, or simply frequently-helpful comments, to comment more often on bills.
Comments may illuminate any of the following: overlooked details on the substance of a bill, where different Members of Congress stand on a bill, evaluations of a bill's chances of passing into law, which outside groups support or oppose the bill, links to important news coverage or blog analysis of a bill, or simply an individual's opinion on a bill.
The more comments you rate, the better that comment boards work for everyone -- so please make frequent use of the slider bars next to each comment! Together we can get closer to what's really happening in Congress.
The U S Government has become dangerous to all U S Citizens.
Fear has gripped the Government and many people of The United States, causing havoc among all citizens. Not in history of civilization has such atrocities been realized. Spying and torture has become a common practice to any individual living or not living the productive life, people who live peacefully, people who are satisfied with their lives. Once the Government considers a person or persons an outsider, they are considered alien and a danger to the society. The government fears these people for their disrupting the overall progress of the American Way. Growth and prosperity, has become a major concern to those people dwelling in luxury and vanity, while individuals who are satisfied with the common way of living are scrutinized and condemned for being lazy and indifferent to any advancement. America is the product of devastation to the planet Earth, and the realm of outer space. The government has sold-out to the destruction of this planet with endless violations, removing the material resources and destroying natural environment, ending nearly all ecosystems for the natural forms of life. The elderly, in their time to relax and enjoy the things they have accomplished, the government relentlessly hounds, reminding the retired they are still useful and can be of some consequence to the community around them. The government continues to rely on production and progress, the very accomplishments that are burying any hopes of this planet Earth from ever recovering from absolute destruction. The End
I wonder what rock this idiot climbed out from under. The United States has and continues to lead the world in environmental regulation. Are we perfect? NO! But we are the most environmentally conscious of all the major countries in the world. And what of our human rights "atrocities?" Well, if you don't like the country, there's always 190 or so other nations you can move to. I will pay for your move - gladly. The fact is, if this country was so bad, we do we have the most immigration applications and have for the last 70 years. WHY? Must not be too bad, huh? Why do we have the lowest emmigration? Hmmm... Better open your eyes there and recognize this is the greatest nation the world has seen. We give more money to the world than the rest of the other countries combined. We are always the first to respond to any global emergency and we are always the last to leave after the response. I welcome your departure from this atrocious nation!
