H.R.675 To amend title 10, United States Code, to provide police officers, criminal investigators, and game law enforcement officers of the Department of Defense with authority to execute warrants, make arrests, and carry firearms.
I am writing as your constituent in the 8th Congressional district of Florida. I oppose H.R.675 - To amend title 10, United States Code, to provide police officers, criminal investigators, and game law enforcement officers of the Department of Defense with authority to execute warrants, make arrests, and carry firearms., and am tracking it using OpenCongress.org, the free public resource website for government transparency and accountability.

This bill is unconstitutional, per the 4th Amendment and should be totally thown out. Law Enforcement Agencies all over already have too much authority against civilians. Is this administration attempting to move forward with creating a police state? Is Martial Law just around the corner? This is not what our Four Fathers had invisioned with our country. Congress must listen to us and must not create a police state. This type of legislation is very scarey and I worry for our future, for the future of my children.

Interim Response
Thank you for taking the time to contact me. Your correspondence has
been received and I welcome the opportunity to address your concerns.
Hearing directly from constituents such as yourself is truly an honor,
and your input is much appreciated.

Please look for my response in the near future. In an effort to serve
you better, please do not duplicate e-mails into the web-form, as it
may serve to delay the response to your concerns. If you need immediate
assistance with a federal agency, please call (866) 630-7106, toll-free
in Florida. Please do not mail materials that require immediate
attention to the Washington DC Office. Due to security screenings,
postal mail can take up to four weeks to be delivered and will delay
our response to your request.

Sincerely,
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio

Responding to your message

Dear Mrs. Lorena,

Thank you for writing me regarding Second Amendment rights. I
understand this is an important issue and I appreciate hearing your
thoughts.

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that "the right of
the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." As a member
of the NRA, I hold the fundamental belief the Second Amendment should
not be altered whatsoever. Please know, I will fight to ensure this
right is protected and the right of the people to keep and bear arms
remains intact.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve you as your United States
Senator. I appreciate you offering your opinion on this issue. If I
can ever be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact
me.

Sincerely,

Marco Rubio
United States Senator

Note to Congressional staff & elected officials reading this: this letter was sent through Contact-Congress features on OpenCongress.org, a free public resource website, but in the future we seek to compel the U.S. Congress to adopt fully open technology for constituent communications. For more information how your office can better handle public feedback through an open API and open standards, contact us -- even today, there are significantly more efficient and responsive ways for our elected officials to receive email feedback than the status quo of individual webforms. For greater public accountability in government, we must make the process of writing one's members of Congress more accessible and empowering. Looking ahead, we will release more data from Contact-Congress letters and Congressional response rates back into the public commons. This will result in a new open data source on bills & issues people care about, as well as encourage best practices in constituent communications and make it possible to grade members of Congress on their responsiveness & citizen satisfaction.
