Interim Response
Thank you for taking the time to contact me. Your correspondence has
been received and I welcome the opportunity to address your concerns.
Hearing directly from constituents such as yourself is truly an honor,
and your input is much appreciated.

Please look for my response in the near future. In an effort to serve
you better, please do not duplicate e-mails into the web-form, as it
may serve to delay the response to your concerns. If you need immediate
assistance with a federal agency, please call (866) 630-7106, toll-free
in Florida. Please do not mail materials that require immediate
attention to the Washington DC Office. Due to security screenings,
postal mail can take up to four weeks to be delivered and will delay
our response to your request.

Sincerely,
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio

Responding to your message

Dear Mr. Seegers,

Thank you for taking the time to contact me to express your concerns
regarding the federal health care reform bill. As your Senator, I am
committed to hearing the thoughts and requests of all Floridians.

Our nation is home to the world's most renowned health care innovators
and professionals who are helping Americans lead longer and healthier
lives every day. I have listened to Floridians share their concerns
regarding health care, and unfortunately, many are without health
insurance; not enough affordable choices exist while costs continue to
rise. Americans are in need of health care reform that will promote a
vibrant private market where they can buy health insurance to fit their
individual needs at affordable prices.

The current health care reform bill, the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA), was passed through a Democrat-controlled
Congress and signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010.
This legislation changes virtually all aspects of health care insurance
and delivery in an effort to create a government-run, single-payer
health care system. The PPACA includes many provisions that are set to
take place in 2014, including the expansion of Medicaid, individual and
employer mandates, and the establishment of health insurance exchanges,
but some provisions have already taken effect, including high-risk
pools and coverage mandates for insurance companies.

The provisions and restrictions contained in the health care reform
bill will raise taxes on the middle class and small business, increase
insurance premiums and fees, and further promote regulatory burdens on
companies and individuals through mandates and penalties. These
provisions ultimately hurt job creation and establish a government-run
bureaucracy that will undermine patient-doctor relationships.

Our solution to health care reform as a nation must begin with the full
repeal of the health care reform bill in order to offer a clear
alternative that will promote competition, combat fraud, utilize new
technology, restore control of health policy to the states, and
ultimately empower individuals to control their own health care
choices. I will continue to be a proponent of simple and constructive
ideas to make health care both more affordable and accessible, and I am
confident that with the help of my colleagues in the Senate, we will
implement common sense reforms to achieve a solution that will better
serve all Americans.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts about the health care reform
bill, the PPACA. I promise to stand up for Floridians and Americans
who are suffering as a result of health care costs, and I look forward
to hearing any views or input you wish to share in the future.

Sincerely,

Marco Rubio
United States Senator
