H.R.910 Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011
Thank You, Mr. Latta for your support of this bill.
Every time when many people pay their utility/water bill they are reminded of the dictatorial authority (unfunded mandate/no reps voted for this) given to the EPA – The EPA should be an investigative agency, not a mandating agency.
*heritage-org/Research The EPA's Global Warming Regulation Plans January 20, 2010 - “... The EPA's attempt to regulate carbon dioxide (CO2), in addition to being the most expensive and expansive environmental regulation in history, would bypass the legislative process completely. Congress should amend the Clean Air Act in order to prevent unelected government bureaucrats from bankrupting the nation...”

I am writing as your constituent in the 5th Congressional district of Ohio. I support H.R.910 - Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011, and am tracking it using OpenCongress.org, the free public resource website for government transparency and accountability.

Sincerely,
Kate Wooring

Dear Ms. Wooring:

Thank you for sharing your concerns with me about environmental regulations.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was created during the Nixon Administration to protect public health and our environment for future generations. From ensuring the revitalization of Lake Erie to reducing air pollution, the EPA has played a critical role in helping preserve native wildlife and habitats and safeguard our lands and waters. However, I firmly believe that environmental regulations must not encourage deindustrialization, but rather, spur industries to invest in cleaner, more energy efficient technologies. Such regulations could help create, not cost jobs.

As environmental legislation continues to be discussed in Congress, I will work to ensure that an unfair burden is not placed on Ohio families and businesses. During this time of economic turmoil, we must ensure that our environmental goals serve as catalysts to create new jobs and economic opportunities across Ohio.

Thank you again for getting in touch with me.

Sincerely,

Sherrod Brown
United States Senator

Note to Congressional staff & elected officials reading this: this letter was sent through Contact-Congress features on OpenCongress.org, a free public resource website, but in the future we seek to compel the U.S. Congress to adopt fully open technology for constituent communications. For more information how your office can better handle public feedback through an open API and open standards, contact us -- even today, there are significantly more efficient and responsive ways for our elected officials to receive email feedback than the status quo of individual webforms. For greater public accountability in government, we must make the process of writing one's members of Congress more accessible and empowering. Looking ahead, we will release more data from Contact-Congress letters and Congressional response rates back into the public commons. This will result in a new open data source on bills & issues people care about, as well as encourage best practices in constituent communications and make it possible to grade members of Congress on their responsiveness & citizen satisfaction.
