I am 51 years old and currently unemployed. I have gone to agencies seeking employment and although I have been that I have excellent skills and that I should not have any problems finding a job, I am still waiting for these agencies to contact me. I am not alone, other colleagues and friends that are also in their 50's are also experiencing the same problems. Discrimination against those who have been laid off and are over 50 are having a really difficult time finding employment and therefore ask that you please vote for this bill.
Sincerely,
SONIA CORREA

to contact my office.
I receive over a thousand phone calls, letters and e-mails every day.
While I make it a point to read every contact that comes through my
office, I cannot always respond to each one but I certainly will do my
best.
Please be assured that your e-mail is important to me and that I will do
all I can to address your concerns.
All the best.
Pete King

Subject: Contact Congressman (H.R.3721 Protecting Older Workers Against
Discrimination Act)
I am writing as your constituent in the 3rd Congressional district of
New York. I support H.R.3721 - Protecting Older Workers Against
Discrimination Act, and am tracking it using OpenCongress.org, the free
public resource website for government transparency and accountability.
I am 51 years old and currently unemployed. I have gone to agencies
seeking employment and although I have been that I have excellent skills
and that I should not have any problems finding a job, I am still
waiting for these agencies to contact me. I am not alone, other
colleagues and friends that are also in their 50's are also experiencing
the same problems. Discrimination against those who have been laid off
and are over 50 are having a really difficult time finding employment
and therefore ask that you please vote for this bill.
Sincerely,
SONIA CORREA
Note to Congressional staff & elected officials reading this: this letter was sent through Contact-Congress features on OpenCongress.org, a free public resource website, but in the future we seek to compel the U.S. Congress to adopt fully open technology for constituent communications. For more information how your office can better handle public feedback through an open API and open standards, contact us -- even today, there are significantly more efficient and responsive ways for our elected officials to receive email feedback than the status quo of individual webforms. For greater public accountability in government, we must make the process of writing one's members of Congress more accessible and empowering. Looking ahead, we will release more data from Contact-Congress letters and Congressional response rates back into the public commons. This will result in a new open data source on bills & issues people care about, as well as encourage best practices in constituent communications and make it possible to grade members of Congress on their responsiveness & citizen satisfaction.
