Dear Ms. Maimbourg,

Thank you for contacting me to share your comments regarding
nutritional supplements. As a doctor, I strongly share your concern for
the health and well-being of Nevadans, and I appreciate hearing from
you on this important issue.

Like you, I share your concern with duplicative federal rules and
regulations for drugs and supplements. As the agency tasked with
determining the health impacts of drugs and supplements, the Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) has the responsibility and appropriate
authority to carefully examine matters relating to public health and
the potential effects supplements may have on consumers. I am
confident that the FDA will look carefully at all drugs and supplements
and reach an appropriate decision. Please be assured that I will
remember your concerns should legislation regarding increased
regulation of nutritional supplements be considered by the House of
Representatives.

For additional information, please visit my website,
http://www.heck.house.gov . From this site
you can access statements about current events or pending legislation,
and receive detailed information about the many services that I am
privileged to provide for Nevadans.

Again, I appreciate your thoughts and it is an honor to serve you in
Congress. Your suggestions are always welcome, and if ever I may be of
assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

DR. JOE HECK
Member of Congress

Should Congress Balance the Budget?

This week, the U.S. Housewill consider a Constitutional amendment that would require the federal government to balance its budget just like families and small businesses all across southern Nevada have to do, plus 49 out of 50 states.

What should the House do? Please click here ( http://e2ma.net/go/7642338618/207381278/227181023/1360158/goto:https://app.e2ma.net/app2/survey/1360158/201008133/2df9225a03/ ) to take my survey

Thanks for your time and I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Sincerely,

Dr. Joe Heck

Note to Congressional staff & elected officials reading this: this letter was sent through Contact-Congress features on OpenCongress.org, a free public resource website, but in the future we seek to compel the U.S. Congress to adopt fully open technology for constituent communications. For more information how your office can better handle public feedback through an open API and open standards, contact us -- even today, there are significantly more efficient and responsive ways for our elected officials to receive email feedback than the status quo of individual webforms. For greater public accountability in government, we must make the process of writing one's members of Congress more accessible and empowering. Looking ahead, we will release more data from Contact-Congress letters and Congressional response rates back into the public commons. This will result in a new open data source on bills & issues people care about, as well as encourage best practices in constituent communications and make it possible to grade members of Congress on their responsiveness & citizen satisfaction.
