Ive been unemployed for a year (20 yrs experience in my field, previously making 87k in HR), gone through all of my retirement (which wasn't much after my divorce) & even moved to another state looking for work...this legislation is a life line.
It's tough when you are told the market will pick up in late 2009 or 2010 where you live, to not reinvent yourself because employers aren't looking to train anyone(they aren't even hiring for their vacancies--I've had 4 jobs where the employer simply cancelled the requestion sometimes after I interviewed)...I'm hurting as are 4 million of us currently on unemployment who can't contribute with our personal income taxes, pay our mortgages, or even think of buying gas to go anywhere but to look for a job. If this legislation passes, this is my Thanksgiving & Christmas, cuz I get to eat & have a roof over my head for another 13 weeks!
