• On February 19, 2009, by Anonymous - This bill has Reason written all over it. Rep. T Bishop (D. N.Y. ) has been attempting to do the same thing..may they unify their effort. As productive farmland, nearest our municipal centers and elsewhere is appraised at values which relate to conversion, this nation looses the capacity to feed itself. Add to that the knowledge that after 300 years, a family can not retain the land of its legacy because of this IRS statute...This bill is long overdue, and after 25 years of seeking advise from "suits and pearls", all the measures which the opponents might suggest ignore the legal entanglements and complexities that such a course involves. I had considered sending Michelle Obama a jar of preserves, made from our raspberries, with the message, "We are in a jam", with some explanation...but I figured she would never receive it...Mr. Salazar's bill is the same in legislative form, but this nation had better "wake up and smell the coffee"
