    • On December 11, 2011, by publion - No. The military-justice system's dynamics skew toward controlling outcomes, dovetailing with the dynamics of sex-offense law skewing for the accuser and against the accused. But the military must operate fast and decisively on realistic assessments of actual threats. To load it with the complexity of a separate command structure for sex-offense matters mimics the Soviets who hobbled their Army with Political Officers changing military decisions simply to ensure Red Correctness. Federalism issues are raised by letting the government usurp States’ right to register sex-offenders; States will have to monitor them (or will the feds?). Bill grandstands to pander to electoral ‘base’. The pro-military Republicans can't go with this. And this bill subjects all troops to dangers of both m-j system and Correct sex-offense jurisprudence. Why not have gender-separate units and eliminate almost all sex-offense complexities? See longer essay at the SenseOffenses site on Blogspot.
