    • On March 03, 2011, by tigntink - In God We Trust didn't appear until Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner in 1814. It wasn't on any money at all until the 1860s and it wasn't adopted as the national motto until 1956. Perhaps he is thinking of E Pluribus Unum which means Out of Many, One. It was the original defacto motto of the United States until 1956. This representative badly needs to learn the history of the country.
