• On December 05, 2011, by DianaBodensteiner - nodakrider you need to come into the 21st century. Global food safety awareness has changed over the last 10 years. What was once acceptable for EU citizens is no longer. There are new regulations as to what will be accepted in the drug history of slaughter horses. EU doesn't want our used up performance horses any more than they want road kill. To change the rules as to what drugs are acceptable and what proof is necessary you need to deal with the officials in the countries buying the meat. Their food - their decision. Our horses don't qualify for the EU market, but are getting through with false docs. By July 2013 when the transition period is over American horses won't be allowed in the EU food chain. We aren't doing anything to comply with the final form of the regulations. You can keep crying "it's safe" all you want, but many nations don't believe you. More countries are proposing their own legislation so their citizens won't have to eat meat that was rejected by the EU.
