I have opposed passage of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 because I've been concerned about language in the act that could be used to detain American citizens indefinitely without charge or trial. Now, Rep. Jeff Landry (Louisiana) has introduced H.R.3676 which will amend the NDAA to specifically state that US citizens may not be detained against their will or without due process. It is essential for us to support Rep. Landry's bill, to raise awareness of this essential protection of our civil liberties, and to vigorously lobby our North Carolina delegation to do so as well.

I am a new member of Open Congress as of today! I also am alarmed by the language of the NDAA! I am glad to read your comment that Rep. Jeff Landry of Louisiana has introduced H.R. 3676 to amend the NDAA to specifically state that US citizens may not be detained against their will or without due process. Thanks for bringing this to my attention because I have found that a lot people are not even aware of the NDAA! It was quite alarming to me that something like this could go by undetected by so many American citizens. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention. I will certainly support Rep. Landry, and I will do everything I can to raise awareness of this issue!!! PS: I lived in Louisiana for a few months and loved it!!!
