Featured Members of Congress
On June 18, 2008 Christopher Dodd was featured on the homepage of OpenCongress:
Portfolio magazine recently reported that Chris Dodd (D-CT) received discounted loans from Countrywide financial through a special V.I.P. program. CREW has urged an investigation, saying "although there is no evidence that either Sen. Dodd or Sen. Conrad were aware they were receiving special treatment from Countrywide, their receipt of the unusually favorable loans creates exactly the sort of appearance of impropriety that the gift rule was designed to address."

People with mortgages on houses they never should have bought that was not within their means is causing seniors to NOT BE ABLE TO PAY THEIR BILL with the new TOO FAST TOO LOW interest rates. Doesn't anyone consider that seniors who live on this income are loser's BIG TIME with cost of everything going up, income going DOWN and yet we pay taxes on this interest income too. You can do something to ENCOURAGE the feds not to lower rates again next week. we need help too. C. McCrady, Oklahoma City OK
How long do we have wait for S.2544?????????????
I happen to have run out of unemployment benefits in February. I could really use that extension right about now as I still have not found any full time work never mind health insurance.
IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH! A TRAITOR! A LIAR! A THEIF! PUT HIM IN THE STREET! EVERYONE SPEAK OUT! DON'T JUST WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. GET UP AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!
I have been out of work since November 2007. My unemployment benefits have run out. My money has run out. I unable to obtain employment and need more time to continue my search for employment. I am at risk of losing my car. Gas prices continue to rise daily. I am highly skilled in my field. My State Rhode Island is one of the hardest hit with unemployment. I am 53 old and have worked hard all my life. I've paid taxes all my life, and this is how my country is treating me. Unbelievable. The Senate, House and President continue to play games as peoples life's are put in jeopardy. Totally disgusting. So all the extra time that I am not spending on looking for employment, I will dedicate to making sure any politician that votes nay on not extending unemployment insurance will be out of a job their next term by informing the public of their decision in every forum available. I will encourage others to do so as well. It is time in this country for the people to take control of their government again and take it out of the hands of the uninformed, out of touch, uncompassionate, ignorant, greedy, self absorbed fools that are the true terrorists ruining this country. Pass a fxxkxxg bill extending unemployment benefits or you will be out of a fxxkxxg job!!!!!!!!!
Don't play politics with the American people anymore and pass HR5749 veto proof next week. People before politics. Please many need it!!!
People out in your communities are talking to you and you are not listening. Pass the Iraq-Afghanistan War Funding Supplement with the New GI Bill benefits along with the Unemployment Extensions without anymore add on's. Please send this Bill as is just exactly the way the House voted on it and get it right by the people of this Great Nation. USA first, all the Way. That is it my friends in the Senate, in a nutshell, Make US Proud, Pass this Legislation.
BUSH wants to bail out Wall street but the unemployed can just wait and starve!
The Congress, the Senate and BUSH are criminal, despicable, naive, and in very dangerous water. To ignore the unemployed and not take care of them is so shortsighted its beyond belief. More Extended benefits need to be passed now! The seven weeks is really a joke as unemployment WILL continue to rise and rise. It needs to be a total of 52 or more as it was in the past. Wake up politician's (PUBLIC SERVANT) as your day is coming, and you be joining the unemployed and learn first hand what it can feel like to be jobless. More jobs will be lost, more Banks will fail and you can only blame yourselves for letting Bush and Cheney get away with robbing the working American public who are as dumb and naive as Sarah Palin!
