We are displeased with your NAY vote on H.R.5749. Please be aware that unemployed Republicans won’t be voting for you or anymore. The most upsetting idea you and your Republican Cohorts presented is that a person would be eligible for a year of unemployment benefits after working only a week! That is VERY misleading, it is degrading, it makes it seem like a person wants a handout and would be eligible for a large amount of money, when that is NOT the case. People need to know the truth. The truth is each state has eligibility requirements and stipulations for earning a certain amount in a certain period of time in order to be even eligible for any state benefits. If a person qualifies, the amount of the state benefit is only about 1/3 of your previously salary, and depends on the total amount earned while working during the approved look back period. Here in ILLINOIS you need to earn a minimum of $1600 in the look back period which consists of 4 quarters. Therefore a person who worked part time for one week and earned $1600 in that week would only be paid $50 a week for 26 weeks. Is $50 a full unemployment benefit to you? For this little amount of money, you and the other Republicans who voted NO have jeopardized this legislation, you are making millions of people continue to hurt and be desperate. We are not happy with you or the other Republicans and want others to know.

I searched for your face among the Tea Party Caucus members. I did not see it. Are you for smaller government? Less taxes? Are you a friend of our constitution? Do you support small businesses and their job creation capabilities? If you answer ‘YES’ to all of these questions then you should be joining the Tea Party Caucus. You don’t have to say that you support the party just be supportive of the major ideas that they represent.

It doesnt surprise me that Hastings voted for the budget bill. His voting record is that he goes along with what his party tells him 95% of the time. The budget bill has a very dangerous provision in it for the establishment of a ‘Super Congress’ that would usurp and violate the US Constitution:

Did Hastings read the bill ? Does he think giving up his powers & duties under the Constitution (which cannot be done) is a good idea ?

I am Not pleased as an eastern WA Republican voter. We need more than yes men who just follow the party line as instructed. Time for someone new – - maybe an independent. – - -
