Re: H.R. 5056
It is important to have diplomatic relations with Iran but the persecution of the Bahá’ís needs to addressed up front and resolved. Iran is practicing segregation or apartheid but unlike most forms of segregation or apartheid the Bahá’ís don’t just have unequal rights they don’t have any rights at all.
Here is a quote from the attached linked article.
“While the Baha’i faith, founded on notions of equality and humanitarianism, originated in what would become the Islamic Republic of Iran, members of the religious community have faced persecution since the republic’s establishment under the Islamic constitution of 1979.
According to the Iranian government, the Baha’i population represents a political sect, not a religious community, and is consequently regarded as apostate. Although the rights of certain minority groups, such as Christians and Zoroastrians, are explicitly protected under the constitution of the Islamic republic, the Baha’i population, estimated by the U.S. Department of State to be approximately 300,000-350,000 of the majority Muslim population, enjoys no rights.
The unprotected status of the Bahá’ís facilitates discrimination without justification within the Iranian legal system. Courts in Iran have denied Bahá’ís the right of redress or protection against assault, killings, or other forms of persecution. These courts have established that Iranian citizens who kill or injure Bahá’ís are not liable for damages because their victims are “unprotected infidels”

Re: Senator Obamas landslide in your district’s primary.
Please explain to your constituents in District 6 why you will not endorse Senator Obama even though your constituents chose Senator Obama over Senator Clinton by one of the largest margins in the state of California
Rep. Woolsey has totally underestimated the abilities of Barack Obama and the will of the citizens she represents. Rep Woolsey’s support of Clinton is so upsetting ESPECIALLY since she has opposed the war. Hillary has compromised herself. So has Rep Woolsey.
Here’s a good summary of the case for Obama.

Here’s a summary of Obama’s stand on the issues.

Lynn Woolsey has lost my confidence unless she corrects and reverses herself to support the will of citizens she represents. The arrogance is appalling and undemocratic.
“Lynn Woolsey has lost my confidence unless she corrects and reverses herself to support the will of citizens she represents.”
Woolsey is about to switch her super-delegate vote to Obama! I disagree that she was “arrogant” but I am VERY happy she’s about to change her vote as a delegate – Obama’s polities and values are much closer in alignment with Lynn’s and with Sonoma and Marin county.

Congresswoman Woolsey’s sponsorship of HR 5786— the amusingly titled “Safe Cosmetics Act of 2010”— is ignorant, unscientific and vicious.
If she cared at all about small business she would pursue this agenda to fanatically regulate the cosmetic and personal care industry with at least some provision for them in mind. Instead, she seeks to fine and attack decent people selling handmade soap at the farmer’s market or running a local spa. These small businesses and innovators already willingly, happily use all-natural, mild, non-toxic materials, and this bill would drive them out of business with absolutely no benefit to consumers.
RETHINK THIS ONE, REPRESENTATIVE.
