Here is some food for thought.
Please have your Aide perform some INDEPENDENT (that is NOT just asking some lobbyist or the DEA!) research on the facts relating to the following:
Many current and former members of the law enforcement and criminal justice communities are speaking out about the failures of our existing drug policies. Those policies have failed, and continue to fail, to effectively address the problems of drug abuse, especially the problems of juvenile drug use, the problems of addiction, and the problems of crime caused by the existence of a criminal black market in drugs.
By continuing to fight the so-called “War on Drugs”, the US government has worsened these problems of society instead of alleviating them. A system of REGULATION and CONTROL of these substances (by our government, replacing the current system, which presently consists of control BY the black market) would be a less harmful, less costly, more ethical and more effective public policy.
Such a rational change in legislation would also SIGNIFICANTLY reduce or eliminate the overcrowding in US prisons.
Please consider the OBJECTIVE and RATIONAL facts, and try to not be so easily swayed by those who provide you with information in aid of preserving their own jobs…
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Geoff Tamplin

DEAR CONGRESSMAN,
~ SHOULD POORER AMERICANS HAVE FAITH THAT OUR U.S. SUPREME COURT IS WELL AWARE THAT AMERICAN PESTIGE INTERNATIONALLY IS VERY MUCH BASED ON HOW WELL WE TREAT OUR OWN CITIZENS~
You and the rest of the Republicans are so transparent! President Obama, as well as us Americans, know what you are doing. Stalling and not voting on what the people want and need in this country. Do the job you were elected to do, and start voting! Your tactics in stalling is only going to back fire on you all. Show our President some respect. How you treat him, is a reflection on how you treat us Americans. We may have been fooled in the past, but not anymore! We The People have spoken by electing President Obama into office. We need change and we need it now! And quit blaming President Obama for the disaster in the Gulf. Enough is enough!
Rep. Young, I sure hope you are in support of HR 3577, the “EARNED” act. As a 27 year veteran of the USAF, including over 150 combat missions over Iraq, I will not vote for anyone who is not in support of this bill. The Post 9/11 GI Bill finally has some utility, versus the poor attempts at Veterans educational benefits in the past. If an individual is 100% qualified for the benefits, such as I am, then they should be able to transfer their benefits to their children. Just because I retired 9 months prior to the arbitrary date of 1 Aug 09, should in no way preclude me from transfering my benefits. As it stands right now, this Bill is very discriminatory and needs to be changed…if an individual is 100% eligible, they should rightfully enjoy all the benefits of the Bill!
