U.S. Congress - Rep. Kevin McCarthy, California (R)

You and the rest of the Republicans are so transparent! President Obama, as well as us Americans, know what you are doing. Stalling and not voting on what the people want and need in this country. Do the job you were elected to do, and start voting! Your tactics in stalling is only going to back fire on you all. Show our President some respect. How you treat him, is a reflection on how you treat us Americans. We may have been fooled in the past, but not anymore! We The People have spoken by electing President Obama into office. We need change and we need it now! And quit blaming President Obama for the disaster in the Gulf. Enough is enough!

I’m from Bakersfield, California. Mr. McCarthy is my U.S. Representative, but I am not happy with his job so far in office. His predecessor, Bill Thomas, worked his way up to chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Thomas was smart, a great legislator, and is well respected in our community and in Washington, D.C. (where he currently serves as vice chairman of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission). McCarthy is interested in party leadership posts, as evinced by his becoming Assembly Minority Leader in California and then Chief Deputy Minority Whip in the U.S. House of Representatives. If Republicans get a majority in the House next November, McCarthy will directly benefit with a promotion. I can’t discern any credible political platform that McCarthy has put forward, because he spends so much time with the power brokers in Washington, D.C. People in Bakersfield don’t hear from him enough, and he should know that his own job as a U.S. Representative is on the line.

Anna, the only people stalling the Democrats in the House are the Democrats. They have the majority to pass anything they want in the House, they had had a filibuster proof Senate, and still failed to get things done. They have no one to blame but themselves. While I respect the Office of the President of the United States of America, I DO NOT RESPECT THE MAN CURRENTLY HOLDING THE OFFICE. Respect is earned, it can not be demanded. To be brutally honest, Obama had done nothing to earn the respect of the Republican (or Democratic) congressional members. He has treated OUR representatives and the American people with disrespect and disdain.
