Ms. Lummis voted ‘no’ in Jan on an extension of the payroll tax holiday.

I just received a form letter that reads “There is never a good time to raise taxes, but it would be particularly harmful to do so during the current economic downturn. The most effective way to stimulate the economy is allowing families to keep more of the money they earn. I was pleased that Congress passed a two-year extension of the Bush tax cuts for all Americans before adjourning last Congress. This last minute measure ensures that your income tax bracket does not go up and keeps the rate on capital gains and dividends at 15 percent. It also extends credits and deductions, such as the child tax credit, state and local sales tax deductions, marriage penalty relief, and educational tax credits. While I ultimately supported this temporary measure, we need a long-term solution to our tax code.”

VOTED AGAINST THE BUSH EXTENSION AND NOW CLAIMING OTHERWISE?
