The College Debt Swap Act needs to get passed. These students are drowning in debt. With the College Debt Swap Act, we would get the same benefits as the Federal Student Loans have. We are not asking for a bailout. We want to repay our loans, but need a better structure in repayment that is allowed for the federal loans. This will allow these people to regain their buying power. We want to buy a home, raise a family and start new businesses, but with large debt due to the unforgiving interest rates and other fees these private lenders are allowed to saddle us with, we will never have our buying power. So how will the economy ever be strong with the majority of young, educated people at the mercy of these lenders? Please hear our pleas.

Our economy is in the tank. Unemployment is past 9% with nearly 19% under employed. Our good Senator spend his time putting a poll on Facebook hoping to get rid of the the Defense of Marriage Act. When will he focus on what is important to the majority of Americans and not spend his time beating the drum for a special interest group. DISGRACEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sen. Franken is a class act. He recognizes the need for balancing the interests of businesses to spur job creation and the protections needed for his constituents and this Country. Anyone who would like to see him in action should follow his work in the Judiciary Cmte. and his introduction of legislation that would prevent the enforcement of unfair and unconscionable arbitration clauses. I highly recommend watching the documentary “Hot Coffee” to see him in action.
