Lamar Alexander (R-TN) is trying to win back an amendment to ban lawsuits against employers requiring employees to speak English at work, which been cut from the Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations bill by the Democratic leadership. "I think we need more unity in the country, not more disunity, and our common language is one source of unity," Alexander said in the Senate last week. The amendment will likely be voted on when Congress takes up an omnibus bill later this year.
