Trent Lott (R-MS), who resigned from Congress on December 18th, <a href="http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/005025.php"target="_blank">announced </a> on Friday that he will be forming a lobbying business with former Senator John Breaux called The Breaux-Lott Leadership Group. The announcement seems to confirm <a href="http://thinkprogress.org/2007/11/26/lott-resign-lobbying/"target="_blank">speculation</a> that Lott resigned early in order to avoid new lobbying rules that went in effect on January 1st. The new rules would have required him to wait 2 years before lobbying Congress.
