Ted Stevens (R-AK) has been convicted on seven counts of failing to disclose over $250,000 in gifts and services he received from an Alaskan oil company. Stevens faces up to 5 years in prison for each count, but he is expected to be given much less prison time in sentencing, if any. Stevens has already been locked in a tight race for the upcoming election, and his conviction virtually guarantees that his challenger, Democrat Mark Begich, will take over his Senate seat next year.
