Jim McCrey (R-LA), the top Republican on the House's tax-writing committee, announced on Friday that he will retire from Congress at the end of his term. "As the minority ranking member, one just doesn't have the stroke, the authority to implement the ideas and plans to solve the nation's problems and that's what I had hoped to be doing," McCrery said at his annual Capitol Club Christmas party.
