After being re-elected to Congress 17 times, John Murtha (D-PA) is facing an uphill battle for being re-elected this year. Murtha was considered safe for re-election until he said in an interview that "there is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area." Even though he apologized to his constituents for calling them racists, his Republican opponent has surged in the polls since his remarks.
