Hilda Solis' (D-CA) confirmation as Labor secretary in the Obama administration is being blocked in the Senate by an anonymous hold from at least one Republican member. According to GOP aides, the hold has been placed because of her support for card-check legislation and pay-discrimination language. Democrats will be forced to hold a protracted debate on Solis if the hold is not withdrawn.
