Wicker has been <a href="http://www.governorbarbour.com/news/2007/dec/statementWicker.htm"target="_blank">chosen</a> by Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour to take over the seat of <a href="http://www.opencongress.org/people/show/300069_trent_lott">Trent Lott</a> (R), the state's long-serving senator who resigned on December 18th. Wicker was selected by Babrbour because he shares Lott’s "conservative values."
