Charles Boustany Jr. was born February 21, 1956 in Lafayette, Louisiana where he currently resides. He was educated at the Louisiana State University (Bachelors, 1978) and Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans (M.D., 1982). Boustany was a cardiac surgeon in private practice from 1990-2004.
Before his election to Congress in 2004, Charles won an at-large seat on the Lafayette Parish Republican Executive Committee and served through (1996-2001). He was named the Vice-Chairman of Bush-Cheney Victory 2000 Campaign for Lafayette Parish in 2000.
