Thelma Drake (R-VA) is calling for "a full court press" this week in her effort to gather signatures from House colleagues on a discharge petition to force a vote on a <a href="http://www.opencongress.org/bill/110-h4088/show">bill</a> that would make <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Verify">E-Verify</a> mandatory for all U.S. employers. The petition currently has 185 signatures; 218 are needed for it to be successful. Democratic House leaders oppose the bill and are beginning to develop alternative plans to address the issue.
