California's 6th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California that stretches up the Pacific coast north of the San Francisco Bay. It covers Marin County and now includes Sacramento, California and most of Sonoma County and includes the cities of Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Novato, San Rafael, and Mill Valley. The district is currently represented by Democrat Lynn Woolsey. Party affiliation in regards to this district can be seen in the 2004 and 2008 presidential primary election results: John Kerry won the district in 2004 with 70.3% of the vote. The district became more Democratic in 2008 with Barack Obama winning 76% of the vote to John McCain's 22%. (More from Freebase)
