North Carolina's 6th congressional district is located in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. The 6th District comprises all of Moore and Randolph counties and portions of Alamance, Davidson, Guilford, and Rowan counties. However, as a result of reapportionment following the 2010 census, the district was shifted northward by the Redistricting Committee of the NC Senate. While the 6th will still take in portions of Guilford and Alamance counties, all of the other counties have been removed and replaced by portions of Durham, Granville, and Orange counties, and all of Caswell, Person, Rockingham, Surry, and Stokes counties. The district is represented by Howard Coble, a Republican. He has held this position since 1985. In the 2006 Elections, he defeated Democrat Rory Blake for reelection. (More from Freebase)
