New Jersey's Ninth Congressional District is a district that consists largely of Bergen County municipalities. Due to redistricting following the 2010 Census, parts of the old 9th District were placed in other districts, such as the Fifth District and the new Eighth District, as part of a reduction in congressional districts from thirteen to twelve in New Jersey. The Ninth District is currently represented by Democrat Steve Rothman, who currently resides in Englewood. Congressman Rothman was first elected to the seat in 1996 succeeding Robert Torricelli, who ran for and won a seat in the United States Senate. Rothman was defeated in the 2012 Democratic primary by incumbent Eighth District representative Bill Pascrell, whose hometown of Paterson was added to the Ninth District as part...
