Since achieving statehood in 1890, the U.S. state of Wyoming has been a one at-large Congressional District. Geographically, the district is currently the fourth-largest in the nation. It is currently represented by Republican Cynthia Lummis, making it the largest district in area currently represented by a woman. It is also the least populous congressional district in the United States, with just over 560,000 constituents. Among the most famous individuals elected to the seat are former Vice President Dick Cheney, who represented the state in Congress from 1979 to 1989, and the late U.S. Senator Craig L. Thomas.
