While I agree with most of what I've browsed through so far and hope it passes I am curious what the total cost is. It seems like most of his objections had to do with growing debt which is reasonable. Though that should be considered when they debate the bill, not when one man decides to block everything.

Where exactly in there did you see that? I didn't even think of fire prevention at first because I was thinking they were going to be protecting against toxic chemicals like lead. Obviously they're both important but one shouldn't be at the expense of the other...

Me too. That's a really cool idea. I didn't even realize they had such a thing.

Seems straightforward enough. I was rather surprised to find out that they WEREN'T already regulated the same as normal pharmacies.

This seems like a good idea to me. As long as they deal with the need for some people to remain anonymous that is... I especially like the idea of more media attention on these matters so that people might know more about them. I know I'm woefully ignorant of a lot of what is going on in our courts. And if the media has pictures and videos to show I do think they'd be more interested.

Tied vote 3-3 here on OC but no comments... Anybody have anything to say on this one? I'm for energy independence and such but long bills like this make me nervous. I'm never sure how they're going to live up to their titles.

Ok, so I for Network Neutrality in general and if this is the best they can do right now I guess it might be a good start. I'm just worried about this being passed and then held up as an excuse for not needing anything better later. And I have seen some arguments showing that putting it in the hands of the FCC could allow them to respond quicker to adapt to what is needed. That's assuming we have somebody in the FCC who will actually do something though...

Heh. Obviously not the most important thing in the world but that seems like a crazy long name for a post office...

I find these sorts of things really amusing. It seems like they spend a lot of time passing random statements which unanimous support. Do other governments do these sorts of things too?

How is this one different from S.1145? The EFF seems to be in support of that one and they seem to be for individuals and innovation... Though they also have reservations about it and see it more as just a step in the right direction.

I'm adding support for this with reservations. I think patent reform is quite important given how broken the system is. I'm not sure this is the solution though. The patent office and some labor unions seem to be against it but the EFF thinks its a step in the right direction. My patent knowledge tends to lean towards the technology side so I'm going to have to side with the EFF. Though hopefully they'll come up with something even better so it wont matter. Also, I don't know how often year old bills still make it through... I was just surfing around.

Some of the things mentioned in the technology and innovation document would be amazing for a site like this. I would love to see what could be done when the government is actively working to get more information out there. I think it would actually get more people excited about the idea of participating too.

Does ignoring it set any sort of precedent, if even just an informal one? Aren't they saying that their way of being "in session" wasn't valid and it was fine to do the pocket veto? Obviously I can see how they would want to get something like this through quickly but it still seems a bit strange...

I don't think McCain himself is going to be commenting on here so it might be better to word these are more general questions. I keep seeing people doing this on candidates pages. That being said I don't really have a solid answer. But the fact that he doesn't mention it anywhere on his campaign website makes me believe he either doesn't or isn't willing to fight for it if he does. Which in my opinion is one of the only good things about him.
