S.1 - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
- editchick7 : There are 6 million unemployed and there are not 6 million jobs. It will be a cut-throat game of musical chairs in 2010 if this bill isn't extended! Banks can't fail but the purchasing power of 6 million can? Will our parks look like Haiti full of 6 million homeless?

- scottjumps : The only problem is our government won't cut taxes on anyone. Businesses use their money to expand and create more jobs, we need to stop the false belief that all business is bad and are just keeping all of the money. Sure there are always a few, but business and the jobs and money they move are what makes America what it is!

S.1959 - Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007
- Anonymous : Ron Paul and his cult are loons.
- ProjectCMD : This must not pass simply because it labels Americans terrorists. How? Everyone has an opinion on which party is better, they are actually quite alike in most ways, they just put things in different terms. Bipartisan, right? They all have their own opinions and that is what they follow. How many disagreed with the bailouts, I know I did, and I wrote senators and congressman, nothing that we Americans asked. The bailouts went through, banks bought out banks, went on vacations and we did nothing.

H.R.5353 - Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008
- brianb : As has been shown countless times, allowing private industries a firm hand over any area is allowing them to call the the shots. If you vote nay for this bill and state reasons of free market economics you are deluding yourself. If you think people won't swallow ISP's horse s*, you are sorely mistaken. In all likelihood they will never even know. Case in point, how many of your average fellow-citizens are aware that Comcast throttles users internet speeds based on their usage? Already we are not receiving the services that we pay for.
- mitchpamf : Highly suspect. Is this a Trojan Horse bill? Look at the sponsor's and co-sponsor's stand on Freedom of Speech and think very hard before voting yes for this bill.

H.R.3962 - Affordable Health Care for America Act
- Brianna : My son has been hospitalized 3 times due to the effects of him using synthetic marijuana. He now has severe depression with pshycotic features, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, axiety, insomnia and tremors. The doctors say there is not enough research on this poison to know how long he will experience these side effects. They say he may snap out of it within months or may have to live with it for the rest of his life. It has changed him dramatically. He has his good days and he has his bad days. The bad days are very bad and I feel so helpless. I listen to him after taking "drug and alcohol test":http://www.drugandalcoholtest.com and comfort him during his panic attacks. I am glad to say that I believe he is done using synthetic marijuana after this last hospitalization but I am not immune to the fact that relapse could be just around the corner.
- okwolffcub : I won't support anything that a president who still has yet to offer that he's actually even legally elgible to hold a political office, has supported (regardless of factors).. He can claim it's passed into law via his signature all he wants, that don't make it so.. This would be the views of a foreign dictator.. Welcome to the federation of America, where we are now under a dictatorship.. Have been now for the past 12 years.

H.R.1076 - Internet Stopping Adults Facilitating the Exploitation of Today’s Youth (SAFETY) Act of 2009
- oorelisysoo : Section 5 (the WiFi bit everyone's talking about)is meant as an addendum to Section 2703 of Title 18, United States Code.
Section 2703 (a) states "A governmental entity may require the disclosure by _a_ provider of electronic communication service of the contents of a wire or electronic communication, that is in electronic storage in an electronic communications system for _one_hundred_and_eighty_days_or_less_, only _pursuant_to_a_warrant_..." [emphasis mine]
Section 2703 is clearly meant for one specific provider, not every provider everywhere. 180 days is the longest time period mentioned in Section 2703, which is far less than two years.
As well, Section 2703 (d) clearly states "...the records or other information sought, are relevant and material to an ongoing criminal investigation." It is not, by any stretch of the imagination, meant to be a blanket provision for everyone everywhere.
This bill is truly ridiculous and has no precedent.
- oorelisysoo : Not only is this bill ridiculously Orwellian, it's technologically impractical. Do these Representatives have any idea how much data is involved in recording the access to a public Access Point for two years? Is the government going to pay for the hard drives necessary to store this information? Do they expect average business owners and households will be able to figure out how to even record this information?
Is this information going to be encrypted? Are there any mandates that this information be protected from easy access by any barely tech-savvy individual?
As well, because DHCP information includes a device's MAC address (a globally unique identifier that every network device has) the government (or a hacker) could literally track the movements of anyone they wanted to, and it would not be difficult.
How long before the next bill requires this information be routinely collected by the NSA?

S.22 - Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2008
- keihin : Hooray! The bill passes and is signed by our President.
Wild lands are protected, and we all stand to benefit.
Every once in a while the system does work.
- Anonymous : This would be the same party that pushed through the Patriot Act and the largest expansion of the federal govenment in 30 years - the Department of Homeland Security?
It's no wonder the Republicans lose elections. They don't know what they stand for.
