S.1959 - Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007
- Anonymous : Ron Paul and his cult are loons.
- ProjectCMD : This must not pass simply because it labels Americans terrorists. How? Everyone has an opinion on which party is better, they are actually quite alike in most ways, they just put things in different terms. Bipartisan, right? They all have their own opinions and that is what they follow. How many disagreed with the bailouts, I know I did, and I wrote senators and congressman, nothing that we Americans asked. The bailouts went through, banks bought out banks, went on vacations and we did nothing.

H.R.3590 - Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
- PGJK : "To amend ...certain other Federal employees [I'm fine up until this point, except in cases of those "noshow" FEDs to which division heads be held accountable for support. AND AS FOR "...and for other purposes". No way!!! ..Just like monies from the lottery that was supposed to go toward education. We should have by now, qualified teachers using topend learning materials in the U.S. system by now, instead Ed. system is laying off & not hiring due to lack of funds. Imagine millions & millions of unallocated monies slated toward educational system being spent elsewhere (I'll keep my 1 pothole for just 1 more qualified teacher). No wonder foreign countries are killing us in our school syatem, infrastructure seems more important than a child's education. And forget about funding for continued education where most students are just about forced to pay their own way unless they've received some scholarship monies or are a minority.
"...and for other purposes" ..definitely no way!!!

S.22 - Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2008
- keihin : Hooray! The bill passes and is signed by our President.
Wild lands are protected, and we all stand to benefit.
Every once in a while the system does work.
- Anonymous : This would be the same party that pushed through the Patriot Act and the largest expansion of the federal govenment in 30 years - the Department of Homeland Security?
It's no wonder the Republicans lose elections. They don't know what they stand for.

H.R.5353 - Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008
- brianb : As has been shown countless times, allowing private industries a firm hand over any area is allowing them to call the the shots. If you vote nay for this bill and state reasons of free market economics you are deluding yourself. If you think people won't swallow ISP's horse s*, you are sorely mistaken. In all likelihood they will never even know. Case in point, how many of your average fellow-citizens are aware that Comcast throttles users internet speeds based on their usage? Already we are not receiving the services that we pay for.
- mitchpamf : Highly suspect. Is this a Trojan Horse bill? Look at the sponsor's and co-sponsor's stand on Freedom of Speech and think very hard before voting yes for this bill.

H.R.3962 - Affordable Health Care for America Act
- okwolffcub : I won't support anything that a president who still has yet to offer that he's actually even legally elgible to hold a political office, has supported (regardless of factors).. He can claim it's passed into law via his signature all he wants, that don't make it so.. This would be the views of a foreign dictator.. Welcome to the federation of America, where we are now under a dictatorship.. Have been now for the past 12 years.
- MenloPeet : speaking my mind! healthcare prices go up because of investors wanting a good pay day, but this is what advances medicine, so we are kinda screwed. people don't purchase health insurance because the premiums are too high, and the premiums will begin to spike even more because of this, which will lead to more people dropping insurance, get the picture im painting here? once nobody can afford healthcare, the industry will collapse, and guess what, the government will be forced to step in. so what we need is to balance government subsidy with rising costs. base what people pay on what they make, i know it would make some people not want to work or whatever, but that's a small blip in the equation.

H.R.1981 - Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act of 2011
- dihayden29 : *I don't want an ISP provider to make it easy for hackers or anyone else to steal your Identity by getting important numbers like credit cards or SSN's.* In case anyone has problems reading the first line.
- dihayden29 : Yea I definetly don't an ISP provider making it easy to rip you off and steal your Identity but getting important numbers like credit cards or SSN's. There are hackers that would love to have a place to be able to target people easily.... In case Congress members don't know... All you need is a phone #, zipcode or even part of your address including anything else you may use that's personal and can easily find EVERYTHING about you and when I say EVERYTHING I mean Everything you're thinking about right now and more.... If it's about protecting children from porn or sexual predators online or otherwise Great! Anything outside of that, I would question.

H.R.1076 - Internet Stopping Adults Facilitating the Exploitation of Today’s Youth (SAFETY) Act of 2009
- oorelisysoo : Section 5 (the WiFi bit everyone's talking about)is meant as an addendum to Section 2703 of Title 18, United States Code.
Section 2703 (a) states "A governmental entity may require the disclosure by _a_ provider of electronic communication service of the contents of a wire or electronic communication, that is in electronic storage in an electronic communications system for _one_hundred_and_eighty_days_or_less_, only _pursuant_to_a_warrant_..." [emphasis mine]
Section 2703 is clearly meant for one specific provider, not every provider everywhere. 180 days is the longest time period mentioned in Section 2703, which is far less than two years.
As well, Section 2703 (d) clearly states "...the records or other information sought, are relevant and material to an ongoing criminal investigation." It is not, by any stretch of the imagination, meant to be a blanket provision for everyone everywhere.
This bill is truly ridiculous and has no precedent.
- oorelisysoo : Not only is this bill ridiculously Orwellian, it's technologically impractical. Do these Representatives have any idea how much data is involved in recording the access to a public Access Point for two years? Is the government going to pay for the hard drives necessary to store this information? Do they expect average business owners and households will be able to figure out how to even record this information?
Is this information going to be encrypted? Are there any mandates that this information be protected from easy access by any barely tech-savvy individual?
As well, because DHCP information includes a device's MAC address (a globally unique identifier that every network device has) the government (or a hacker) could literally track the movements of anyone they wanted to, and it would not be difficult.
How long before the next bill requires this information be routinely collected by the NSA?

S.1 - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
- editchick7 : There are 6 million unemployed and there are not 6 million jobs. It will be a cut-throat game of musical chairs in 2010 if this bill isn't extended! Banks can't fail but the purchasing power of 6 million can? Will our parks look like Haiti full of 6 million homeless?
http://www.unemployedworkers.org/sites/unemployedworkers/index.php
- scottjumps : The only problem is our government won't cut taxes on anyone. Businesses use their money to expand and create more jobs, we need to stop the false belief that all business is bad and are just keeping all of the money. Sure there are always a few, but business and the jobs and money they move are what makes America what it is!
