H.R.5878 - Troops to Nurse Teachers Act of 2008
- jtrueblood : The impending nursing shortage is a serious matter that will impact the delivery of quality health care in our near future. The babyboomers in the nursing field will be leaving the workforce in the next five years and replacing not only the nurses working in healthcare facilities but, also nursing professors will be critical to the survival of the nursing profession.
Bill H.R. 5878 is a great way to allow nursing schools to hire more professors, which in turn will allow the programs to enroll more students. Congressional support of this Bill is important to healthcare.

H.R.5924 - Emergency Nursing Supply Relief Act
- Anonymous : This bill at least addresses some long term issues in the need to provide more educators and more programs for the nursing shortage, but bringing nurses from foreign countries is a double edge sword. I will physically bring in nurses, but what about language barriers? what about differences in practice from their country to ours. We have worked very hard to develop good standards for quality care, these nurses do not have andy experience with these policies and may not see them as a priority in care.
- Anonymous : This is a very poor bill. It is essentially gives a grant of US citizenship to those that can displace US workers. The bill will force Americans out of nursing just like expansion of H-1b visa availability has reduced enrollment in US computer science programs.

H.R.4088 - SAVE Act of 2007
- Anonymous : Border security is little more than closing the gate after the livestock have escaped. It is also very much a smoke screen to dealing with the issues of illegal immigration. Simply giving citizenship to those that want it is the same as what we already have. The simple solution is to eliminate work, housing and other social benefits to people illegally entering our country. When there is nothing to live on, people will leave. A few illegal hiring company CEO's imprisoned is much cheaper than chasing illegals, holding, shipping back and chasing again. Faced with incarseration, company heads would take great interest in solving employement issues and explain to stockholders how employment costs will increase causing stock decline. Currently illegal immigrants are the new poor and too deeply bedded in bank and loan companies. The real issue is that too many entities have padded their business on using illegal immigrants that there would be serious economic issues. Government is dragging their feet under the pressure of the economic issues. Like so many, this bill is stuffed with too much garbage to make decent progress. People can not make decisions when presented with too many options. We need a simple employement and social benefit reform that excludes illegal immigrants and provides legal provision to go after the people hiring illegal immigrants to their profit and expense to the rest of us. It needs to happen quickly as we are currently being overrun. Seems the plan is to let invasion occur until there is nothing to be done about it.
- Anonymous : What I want to know is if all these illegals come here to do is work than why is it that 12 billion of the 14 billion dollar deficit in California is due to illegals? If they're working so hard why would you need assistance? I am tired of the bleeding hearts in this country. Illegal is illegal. Would it be the same to say if I committed a crime like stealing that I only did it to better my life because I didn't have any money? You would be all over that prosecuting me. So why is it okay to break and enter illegally into my country, steal money from our government(us) and feel sorry for the lawbreakers?
