S.160 - District of Columbia House Voting Rights Act of 2009
- fortermlimits : Come on Joe, I thought you knew better than to propose something like this. I am truley disappointed in you.
- dankennedy73 : For the sake of Constitutional law which unfortunately has been violated quite a lot recently, I have to agree with you on every count.

H.J.Res.5 - Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on th...
- brking : I'm not sure what you mean by "work". but i will assume it means to a more efficient system of government. term limits along won't work, to some extent. that is they will promote a more competitive open-seat race in district that are moderate, so as you say would ending gerrymandering, which seem like a quick fix of making bipartisan committees to draw districts instead of who ever is in office every 10 years.
why is it that 80% house incumbent and 95% senators get reelected. i would point to funding. PAC's others favor incumbents 92% of the time. the money matters big time as more often than not he or she who has the most funding wins.
laws that limit terms would also have to at minimum apply state wide, look at California. they limited terms ,but it has done little to make thinks competitive simply become they are carpetbagger in some sense they can just move to another district and run again as representatives.
- mjbanks : no way, jose.

H.R.157 - District of Columbia House Voting Rights Act of 2009
- jeremy_neel : Just to clarify, I do realize that this law is unconstitutional and an Amendment is required in lieu of cession to Maryland.
- jeremy_neel : I support the cession of most of the District back to Maryland, but first the state legislature of Maryland has to agree to it. The federal government cannot force a state to take new lands.
Once that bit is done, all that has to remain in the District is the Capitol and perhaps Congress' office buildings, the White House, and the Supreme Court.
I do however, support HOUSE voting representation for every American citizen and an Electoral College voting representation equal to those Americans' Congressional representation. I believe the citizens currently living in D.C. should be represented in the House regardless of whether it is a D.C. congressman or a Maryland congressman that does it, but the 3 electoral votes that the District controls should be reduced to that number of Congressmen, which as of the 2000 Census, should result in 1 voting member of the U.S. House and, thus, 1 electoral vote.

H.R.875 - Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009
- Albert07 : This is an attempt by big pharma to keep people sick and keep them from eating organic food so they can sell more drugs. American food is so toxic other countries don't allow it to be sold in there baorders. It,s designed to make you fat, addicted and sick.
- Lissalady : Just when the nation is finally seeing that the cure to cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc...is found in good, chemically free local food. They appear to want everyone to take part in consuming preservatives, pesticides and what ever else they decide "appropriate" to add. We have become uninformed, and too involved in the shallow things of this fast paced life to realize that this is a BIG, BIG, BIG monster that has grown right under our noses. The FDA have a higher kill rate than the Taliban! Organic foods cure diseases that plague our health system and things will no doubt get rightfully ugly when we start losing our loved ones. The government needs to back off before they create an entire revolution. We need to take our power back to restore our health and be the owner of our own bodies!!

H.R.1409 - Employee Free Choice Act of 2009
- DDC : Sorry, but in the real world; once they get the cards signed, the unions hustle their way in one way or another. The employees are screwed.
- DDC : heattherrm
What you don't understand is the intimidation tactics the union thugs put on the unsuspecting employees. I've witnessed it personally. They come to the worksite; they act like friends until you don't toe the union line; they call their homes; they go to their homes over and over telling them how "we've all got to stick together". I've even seen them threaten the Latinos by telling them if they don't get on board with the union they will call immigration. Even documented workers are always in fear of deportation. It's disgusting what they do. And for what? Just to pay their salaries and put money in their coffers. They do nothing for the employee; the employer provides everything.

S.560 - Employee Free Choice Act of 2009
- cmstever : they don't have to give up the secret ballot, they would still be able to do that.
- cmstever : how did you come to that conclusion? are the Statists the democrats? are they passing this bill because of the unions? doesn't that mean the unions have the power? don't unions represent the dear, hard working people? what clue are you talking about? you clue sounds paranoid.

H.R.1586 - To impose an additional tax on bonuses received from certain TARP recipients.
- Betonavette : Since Rangel is the sponsor of this bill, he needs to pay his taxes first before demanding everyone else comes clean. What a pure hypocrit this guy is.
- pramsey : This has nothing to do with 16th ammendment which allows the Congess to levy taxes. This is a very bad way of gettng our (tax payers) money back from a select few who probably didn't deserve it in the first place. This is basicaly a punishment tax.

S.651 - Compensation Fairness Act of 2009
- bmwtriton : And if it WAS retroactive it would be an ex post facto law, and therefore be unconstitutional
- annelisejd : This is a waste of paper. This bill is not even retroactive. The tax begins January 1, 2009. It really is time we hold our politicians accountable, many need to be arrested.
