- Anonymous : Border security is little more than closing the gate after the livestock have escaped. It is also very much a smoke screen to dealing with the issues of illegal immigration. Simply giving citizenship to those that want it is the same as what we already have. The simple solution is to eliminate work, housing and other social benefits to people illegally entering our country. When there is nothing to live on, people will leave. A few illegal hiring company CEO's imprisoned is much cheaper than chasing illegals, holding, shipping back and chasing again. Faced with incarseration, company heads would take great interest in solving employement issues and explain to stockholders how employment costs will increase causing stock decline. Currently illegal immigrants are the new poor and too deeply bedded in bank and loan companies. The real issue is that too many entities have padded their business on using illegal immigrants that there would be serious economic issues. Government is dragging their feet under the pressure of the economic issues. Like so many, this bill is stuffed with too much garbage to make decent progress. People can not make decisions when presented with too many options. We need a simple employement and social benefit reform that excludes illegal immigrants and provides legal provision to go after the people hiring illegal immigrants to their profit and expense to the rest of us. It needs to happen quickly as we are currently being overrun. Seems the plan is to let invasion occur until there is nothing to be done about it.

If they're working so hard why would you need assistance? I am tired of the bleeding hearts in this country. Illegal is illegal. Even worse when it's not a personal contract, but a law that will take effect and be enforceable over the whole of the United States population. - Anonymous : I bought a house 3 yrs ago with my husband for $739,000. At the time we were both working and could afford the house pretty confortably. Last year my husband left me and my 2 boys. Before he left, he took out a loan against the house which brought my dept to $850,000. I was left with this high mortgage and only my income to cover it. At the time he took money out the property was worth about $910,000. I tried to keep it for as long as I could. Finaly I had to let it go. Before the foreclosure sale, the bank allowed me to keep the property under a program that will freeze the loan for 6 months. I have to make a small payment of $2000 per month to keep everything frozen. NO interest is accumulating, the money is just to hold off on the foreclosure sale. 6 months is coming to an end pretty soon and I will be back to square one because the house is now worth $650,000 so I can't sell it. This new bill will help me keep my house. B4 this help came, I came to understand that losing my house is not the end of the world. But with this new law, I will be greatly relieved of my burden. - Anonymous : CongressCritter, I believe you are missing the point. I don't think anyone is saying it is okay to steal music or sell music. The problem is many people don't consider their activities to be 'stealing' while the industry does. If I buy a CD and rip it to my computer so I can put it on my ipod, or a DVD I bought to watch on my nice LCD monitor, I see nothing wrong. Most people won't. But I have read papers saying that ripping the information is illegal as it bypasses copyright protection. Even if I don't plan to distribute and the files simply sit on the hard drive, its illegal. While no one wants to admit it, this concept of 'stealing' by making copies of something has existed for quite a long time. The RIAA and MPAA never went after people who made mix tapes or used VCRs to record their favorite shows to the best of my knowledge. The only difference now is that this copying is very easy to do. Before someone could make a few copies of a tape or CD at a time before it got too expensive and time consuming. Now only one person needs to have the file to make 1000s of copies almost instantly.

Seniors raising grandchildren need financial support, not just strangers who happen to make their living by taking in foster children(foster homes). It seems they get all the help and those relatives, including grandparents, that take their neices, nephews, grandchildren out of foster care get nothing. We are going through our retirement rapidly. We don't need help for us, just the children. We are so afraid that our social security and teacher retirement will run out before our 3 grandchildren are out of high school, let alone college. We need financial help with college, also. Our oldest grandchild will be graduating from high school in June, 2010 with a GPA of 3.8.
