  • adipesh : Representative Mike Pence recently spoke out about the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes law, stating it is "antithetical to the First Amendment." (http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/56300). The argument that it violates 1st Amendment rights is based on the idea that one can't be prosecuted for one's views or opinions, only one's actions, and the actions are the same, regardless of the sexual orientation of the victim. However, Rep. Pence also co-sponsored H.R.1822 "To prohibit discrimination against the unborn on the basis of sex or race, and for other purposes." This bill would make it possible to prosecute doctors who perform abortions when it is known that the abortion is sought for the purpose of sex- or race-selection. So, he supports criminalizing thoughts when one seeks a legal medical procedure, but not when they viciously attack or murder another human being. This is just one more hypocrisy showing that some people care more about the unborn than living citizens.

  • Htaylor : Congressman Souder has always professed to be a champion of veterans. I disagree with his assessment and suggest he is an opportunist, merely reporting what others have done and taking credit. Many veterans in his district are fed upwith his banter and are ready for a congressperson who will actually fight for not only veterans but for the district. Mark Souder is a Washington insider and, I suspect, always has been notwithstanding his rhetoric to the contrary. It apparently is time for a change.

He even attacked Tammy Baldwin on adding gender identity to the ENDA bill on November 7th, 2007. He is the reason Rep. Baldwin withdrew the amendment. He is evil, a grown schoolyard bully. Please, if you are one of his constituents, vote for the Democrat who is running against him in the congressional race. We need a better politician representing your district.
