H.J.Res.5 - Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on th...
- brking : I'm not sure what you mean by "work". but i will assume it means to a more efficient system of government. term limits along won't work, to some extent. that is they will promote a more competitive open-seat race in district that are moderate, so as you say would ending gerrymandering, which seem like a quick fix of making bipartisan committees to draw districts instead of who ever is in office every 10 years.
why is it that 80% house incumbent and 95% senators get reelected. i would point to funding. PAC's others favor incumbents 92% of the time. the money matters big time as more often than not he or she who has the most funding wins.
laws that limit terms would also have to at minimum apply state wide, look at California. they limited terms ,but it has done little to make thinks competitive simply become they are carpetbagger in some sense they can just move to another district and run again as representatives.
- mjbanks : no way, jose.

H.R.414 - Camera Phone Predator Alert Act
- FallenMorgan : Sure are a lot of statists in Congress.
- VirginianPatriot1861 : I oppose this bill because of the principle involved. The government should not try to force cellphone manufacturers to alter the designs of phones.
I agree that there are perverts who take pictures with their cell phones that they shouldn't be taking, happens all the time in the college I go to. However, it is up to the cellphone companies to do this if they want to. Forcing them to is an assault on civil liberty.
In addition to this, I think that parents should just not let their kids have cellphones because kids don't really need them anyway. And this is primarily a problem amongst teenagers etc in school.

H.R.25 - Fair Tax Act of 2009
- FallenMorgan : The Wilson-Gorman Tariff Act was introduced by Democrats and supported by the Democrats. It's purpose was to reduce the rates of the McKinley Tariff, introduced by William McKinley while he was in Congress, as a Republican. The Revenue Act of 1913 was signed by Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat.
- bigdogg62 : why are republican trying to switch the blame of income tax on the dems. when they where the ones who passed the amendment to incorperate them? ref. the The Wilson-Gorman Tariff Act of 1894.and also The United States Revenue Act of 1913 also known as the Tariff Act or Underwood Tariff (ch. 16, 38 Stat. 116, October 3, 1913), imposed the first federal income tax following the ratification of the Sixteenth Amendment and lowered basic tariff rates from 40% to 25%.when GOP was a majority party and they held presidency. and u thrust them to do something right.

H.R.594 - Save Our Climate Act of 2009
- goby : Global warming is bull, follow the money
- gman86428 : This bill is bunk. Global Warming is a lie. CO2 is not poisen and is actually needed to sustain plant life on the earth. The glaciers of Europe are getting bigger and thicker all the time. The Al Gore film showed life in antartica during the summer. Oh my ice does melt in the summer. Antartica has actually grown in its ice mass the past winters. Why tax the US public for a lie. Kill this in the committee!

S.371 - Respecting States Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2009
- TheBatman : I got stopped traveling through Alabama from Florida. When I travel, I ALWAYS carry.
They grilled me and grilled me like I was some sort of criminal. I can legally carry in my vehicle, in it's holster, that is 3+ movements away.
We should not have to go through that just because we want to protect ourselves.
- rsh1962 : All laws only affect law-abiding citizens. Bad guys dont follow the laws, so any gun control law only affects the honest people trying to defend thier families. If one state says you may carry a firearm, why must you disarm when crossing state lines?

H.R.875 - Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009
- Albert07 : This is an attempt by big pharma to keep people sick and keep them from eating organic food so they can sell more drugs. American food is so toxic other countries don't allow it to be sold in there baorders. It,s designed to make you fat, addicted and sick.
- Lissalady : Just when the nation is finally seeing that the cure to cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc...is found in good, chemically free local food. They appear to want everyone to take part in consuming preservatives, pesticides and what ever else they decide "appropriate" to add. We have become uninformed, and too involved in the shallow things of this fast paced life to realize that this is a BIG, BIG, BIG monster that has grown right under our noses. The FDA have a higher kill rate than the Taliban! Organic foods cure diseases that plague our health system and things will no doubt get rightfully ugly when we start losing our loved ones. The government needs to back off before they create an entire revolution. We need to take our power back to restore our health and be the owner of our own bodies!!

S.414 - Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009
- dbmalkie6 : There should be a limit to credit. American's live beyond their means which is part of the reason we are in this financial state. The government is continuing this same practice with tax payer money. Will this really reduce the cost of credit? No. This industry will make up the profit lost from this bill by other means. I have heard several examples of potentially new "fees" to make up the difference. Interest rates are already being hiked in advance of this bill. At the end you will see rates already hiked up, and new "fees" being imposed on the consumer. What did we get in the end? Nothing but wasted taste payer dollars! 70% of our economy is consumer spending - 70%. This consumer cannot spend my hard earned money because the government has already spent it for me. Until the consumer starts spending and the government stops, you will see little improvement in our economy.
- TLee1 : Regarding the interest rates charged by credit card companie: they should be rolled back to comply with states' usury laws. If that can'r be done, the federal government should set a ceiling on all interest rates, never to exceed "x %." Anything above 15% is usurious.

S.425 - Food Safety and Tracking Improvement Act
- mommachef : with no sarcasm at all:
did i miss reference to any fees?
i saw the penalty fee to be levied for distributing a recalled item.
were there others?
and if not, are you working on the assumption all farmers will be required to pay into this system?
if that is your fear, then let's work to prevent THAT, rather than preventing the whole bill.
you say the fda and usda should do their jobs. it has been my experience that the people who work for the agencies would love to be more effective and are struggling due to underfunding and under-staffing.
this bill, as i read it, is about about giving the fda and the usda more power to accomplish their goals. now let's get the authors and/or committees to work on the funding so that the agencies need not (a) assess burdening fees or (b) turn to monsanto and like for operating cash.
- mommachef : first, this is the page for s.425, not hr 875.
second, while i agree that monsanto's access to power and the frightening unknowns of gmo's deserve great alarm, that is not what this bill is about.
this bill, s.425, is about giving teeth to the inspection agencies that came out of Sinclair's "The Jungle".
this bill is trying to make the world a better place, not the monsanto-controlled place of which you fear.
this bill is a chance for us to pull ourselves up from our fears and use the government to a good end: better enforcement of a federal issue.
this bill, s.425, is not without flaws and i believe could do more for protecting small farmers. but, i personally believe, giving the usda and fda some dentures is better than leaving them with next to no teeth at all.

- Anonymous : Please let GM and Chrysler die. It would be a great economic boon to all those who are locked out of the automotive industry by these behemoths. Breaking them up into smaller pieces would also have a positive affect. About the only people it might hurt would be the UAW. But hey, I can see where screwing 85% of the population for the benefit of 15% might be politically expedient.
Let's stop serving up fear, and start leading in a positive manner toward REAL change, like the removal of large, inefficient corporations.
- gman86428 : was greatly disappointed to see that you had supported the bail out bill today. As I had written before there are other ways to solve this crisis without taxpayer money. We sure did not do this in the 30's. I guess congress just does not learn from our own history. I will not be supporting you in this November election.
